Now should you be an England fan Or maybe support Wales, Or support any other land To me, it always pales, When compared to our favourite club Whichever league they´re in, Nothing gives the same hubbub As when Canaries win, For players there´s no greater joy An International day, But I find they only annoy These breaks in our league play, And then, if picked, there is the fear That players who are key, Might find that it could cost them dear If they´re part of the spree, A twist, a turn, a tackle which Somehow just goes astray, Can end the party on the pitch Then clubs are made to pay, So while I while away the time These Internationals take, I cross my fingers, they´ll be fine For our Canaries sake, Now maybe that´s a selfish view But one that´s probably shared, By quite a few managers who Are hoping to be spared, The agony of players out When the league starts again, And honestly, there is no doubt We need no more, in pain. OTBC
Fortunately they all seem to have come through unscathed after day 1. Jackson even helped himself to a hattrick against the minnows of St. Lucia, but, a hattrick´s still a hattrick.
Hi RBF, it's always a concern that our best players are likely to be injured whilst playing for their country! Who can forget poor Dean Ashton whose career was finished just training for his country, such a sad loss!
You have managed to pretty much irritate most posters on here, i am one of a handful that have defended you and you even had a pop at me. "Do you read all of my posts then Welly? I feel privileged. Never seen you comment on one though. I suspect you and SN23 could be one and the same. I'm more handsome, toned and popular with the ladies than you'll ever be. I was voted 'most likely to be a Calvin Klein model' at my sixth form college prom. Bet you didnt. I can put that on my CV so hahaha" So yes , **** off back to GC
I've given him the benefit of the doubt also on a few occasions. Fact is he's a brainless fantasist who likes to disrupt any forum he's on. Let him run riot on GC, after all, who cares, have you seen the people on there?? On here though? No. (Please let me be a mod on the NCFC forum Maltese Mick, )
Once upon a time I would have said the National team should have priority but those days are long gone and for me the club is far more important these days due to the money that can be won or lost which could come down to an injury or two. For a smaller PL team such as Norwich we cannot really afford to lose 2, 3 or 4 of our best players at the same time (most teams outside the top 6 probably could not tbh) and if injuries through training or playing for the respective international sides come about it is a little harder to take (for me). Others may well disagree, it's a topic that does divide fans across the country and possibly much of Europe.
It´s been that way for me too gandy since 1966, the last time I really interested myself in the natÃonal team. Mind you, we were good then!
Club over country for me too. I think a large part of it is where you're from, and the identity it gives you. Now of course I'm from England, but I feel more attached to my Norfolk identity than that of being English. Same goes for northerners with a strong sense of local identity. I'd dare say that someone from Surrey or Hampshire would be "country before club" as these regions have, in my opinion, a less well defined regional identity. And anyone from Weston Super Mare....well that's a whole different story.
Club and country are equal in my opinion. Love them both and always want them to win. I don't understand why people are so down on England now and always mock them for being rubbish and say they dont care anymore because they always mess up. If you did that with your club you'd be called a right gloryhunter! You still support the club even if you dont like some of the players and results are going terribly. Why is that not the same for England? If we won the world cup it'd be AMAZING for everyone, a massive party and the whole nation would be lifted.
Right now it's become club everytime for me. I don't mean that because things are going well for City, it's more that because I care about England I can't be bothered to watch a bunch of (fill in this space as you see fit!) who seem to not be all that bothered. If some of our international players put in the same performance for club as they do for country, well, they might be looking for new clubs fairly quickly. I used to care passionately about the England team, now, I'm afraid I just can't see the point.
Club, we are a superbly run club with loyal fans and a good ethos ........................England are just a picture of Rooney or Beckham on a BIG MAC Box
