Agree with him too. Don't really want Europe till we build a full squad, with backups and everything and it to blend 100% with each other

I seem to be in the minority that wants Europa league football next season through a cup win/amazing league position.
Would be great for keeping players and hopefully buying more in so squad depth shouldn't be an issue, would be a great reward and bring back some memorable European nights such as the scenes in Rotterdam vs Feyenoord!

I do know what you mean - I really miss seeing Newcastle United involved in European competition. I think there is a certain amount of cleverness to what Colo has said here, I think he's trying to keep a lid on the excitement that our impressive start has created.

To be honest he's right, are squad is not quite ready and it's going to be when Vuckic, Sammy, Fergy and even Campbell coming through that will make the difference. What I love about Campbell is he's 100% homegrown and we are well due a gem.

Yeah, I can see where he's coming from, but I can't repress the excitement of the possibility of being back in Europe soon!

Our overall squad isn't quite good enough to get a European spot. Our starting X1 is, but the squad isn't.

This is what i was talking about this morning.....

I've made two articles saying this!! But most people disagreed........

It's probably cause your Tash <laugh>

Obviously... if i say it people disagree, if Colo says it, everyone suddenly says.... you know what, we're not ready for Europe....

But tash also doesn't think so, should i agree with him? Nah, he's tash....

TOON 4 EUROPE!

Need European football to attract better players & increase revenue so Fat Mike will spend some cash.

<ok> this. Our squad will grow when we get these players through. TBH if we don't sell anyone but the deadwood for the next couple of transfer windows then i can see a decent squad emerging

I doubt it. Ashley may just assume we've gotten this far with our current squad that he doesn't need to spend anything.

I don't see it as a problem really, the majority of it we can play a weak side using: Abeid, Harper, Vuckic, Gosling, Guthrie, Obertan, Best/Ba, Williamson, Raylor. Then hopefully we'll make some new signings which can add to a bit more depth so we could just cover the Europa and the league.

We're only two or three signings away from being ready. Look at some of the **** sides in the early stages of the Europa League. Our backups such as Williamson, Harper / Forster, Ferguson, Raylor, Guthrie, Gosling, Obertan (will soon be ousted by Marv in the starting XI) and Shola etc will easily be able to step in. It'll also be an amazing opportunity for our young players to develop and progress.

I think if we qualify through the cup, with a reasonable league finish, theres no reason we CAN'T be ready.

Look at this years transfer window, a lot of us were dissapointed with the scale of overhaul, but if you put an optimistic spin on it, then we did very well...

Cabaye - 4.5m, I dare any of you to say a bad word about this transfer.
Davide Santon - 4.5m, I still can't believe we've got him, future super star IMO!
Obertan - £3m, he's only 22 and can pretty much write off the past 2 years as he barely played for United. He's getting up to speed and his pace on the break will provide a great outlet.
Marveaux - £free, looks class and snubbed the bin dippers, I love him already.
Ba - £free, post-Ramadan he is looking amazing, had we spent £10m on him instead of using a clause in his contract then I feel fans would've been far less pesamistic about this whole window.

2-3 new signings (if only for cover) in January and another 5-6 (with 3-4 outgoings in Summer) and we'll have quality and the beginnings of a bit of quantity!
