I think the Landlord’s gone to bed, and I’m the last one in the bar..... it’s not clever, it’s not necessary and it’s not appropriate for a man of my age (my ex-wife gave me a badge with that on it)
Happy with Willock. Think he is the ideal loan player - young, keen to impress, energetic attacking midfielder. Exactly what we need. Its a short term fix but makes sense to do this now.
Jesus, it's all doom and gloom on here, I dread to think what people would have been like if we hadn't brought anybody in! Did anybody realistically expect us to ACTUALLY sign someone in this window, and by sign someone I mean permanently? Lets not write the kid off before he's even pulled on the shirt. We all know that coach Bruce will ****ing ruin him most likely, the one saving grace I guess is our new gaffer Jones will hopefully pull rank and ensure he gets pitch time in his natural position. Every new player gets a clean slate for me until such time as they have proven themselves to be utter ****ing horseshit (see Joelinton, Hendrick, Shelvey et al), it's not the kid's fault he's here and he didn't have to come but he wants to play so lets see what the **** he can do! He has to be better than some of the ****ing dross we have at our club and will hopefully show a few of the lads what they need to do in order to get their shirts back. It smacks of a window of a club winding down for a takeover for me like. Bruce obviously feels we have enough with Manq/Krafth and Lewis/Dummy to get us through the season as well as cover at CB in Clark/Fernandez/Schar/Lascelles. We have an abundance of midfielders in Murphy/Miggy/Hendrick/Shelvey/Hayden/Longstaff x2/Ritchie/ASM and now J-Dubya. We need to build on the Leeds 2nd half and the Everton game and take games to teams every single time we step out on the pitch, we have the players capable of it and if this Willock kid is a pure box to box midfielder he could turn out to be the midfield engine we've been missing for so long, we'll sharp find out. Shame he can't play tonight but will be interesting to see how much extra our midfield lot pull their socks up with a shirt potentially up for grabs. Hippo Head has brought a good few players in and quite how they pulled off Maitlan-Niles is beyond me but I think that is more about Arsenal's unwillingness to sell to anyone else likely to threaten their league position, WBA being the lesser of all of the evils I feel. They'll all need to hit the ground running and gel pretty quickly and quite how they will take to hoof-ball remains to be seen but they could be a slight worry for me. I still think we'll be fine....just. We have a horrific run in so we need to get as many points on the board before the end of April in my opinion otherwise May is gonna be a squeaky bum month. Our last 6 fixtures don't make for pretty reading at all :- Liverpool (a) Arsenal (h) Leicester (a) Citeh (h) Sheff Utd (h) Fulham (a) Nee way in hell do I wanna be playing those last two games needing points like and we'll be lucky to pick up 3 points from the preceeding 4 games before them. WE just might be ****ed !!
Depends on results. If we win our next two games for example and others below is pick up next to nothing then we might see a conclusion march time.
It's not long whatever really my attention.. A win tonight would be huge...it's nice and cold they won't like that Palace
I think 35 points will be safety this year. 5 wins and 2 draws would see us to 39 points which is almost certainly safety. Even 4 W, 3 D (37 points) could be enough to see us clear. Think we have probably got enough in the tank to get there, especially if we can nick 3 points off Palace tonight. The current three bottom clubs have won 2 games a piece in the first half of the season so hopefully they continue the same vein of form - can't see WBA getting enough to get out of it, Sheffield are almost certainly down and Fulham while improved recently haven't been getting the results they need.
Fulham just lack enough quality. Id be surprised if the bottom 3 don’t stay that way. Brighton have much better players, Lanptey and Bissouma to name just two, yet probably are the 4th worst in the league.
No, I don't think so - we had our bad luck already with Covid and other muscle strains. You tend to find clubs have bursts of ill fortune, then get periods of calm. You could argue that Fulham haven't even had any yet, so will really struggle. They have quite a poor team/squad, unfortunately - Covid meant teams coming up just couldn't add the quality. Villa had already spent well and had a decent backbone with McGinn and Grealish before adding the likes of Watkins. Leeds similar - Bielsa's management ability and contacts have seen them get better quality than more limited sides, like Fulham. Surprised Burnley are edging away, they are such a limited team and are now saddled with debt they can't service; they're going to disappear in a year or two. Brighton will always struggle, they've got a tough job replacing Bissouma this Summer - their buys are often quite poor (Propper), got a bit lucky with Bissouma.
From a mate of mine, lifelong Arsenal fan and ST holder: "Joe Willock is ****ing ****. Don’t expect ANYTHING from him"
I can show you hundreds of arsenal fans saying the opposite. You never learn mate it's only a week since you mocked the appointment of Jones..
