Was speaking to a friend last night and we got on about the takeover, he said that he was speaking to his sons footy manager who is also a youth coach at Sunderland. He said that staff have been told everything is done and their jobs are safe. He didn’t go into much detail about it as he’s not a Sunderland supporter but just like what’s been said on here it sounds like the club are operating under the new ownership as we speak.
Well if seems to me, that the decisions which gave been taken for a good while now indicate obviously new input. It's not just a lack of money that would have stopped those two from making these changes and signings. They wouldn't have had the wit to do it either. Clearly a new course has been set, and it won't have been set by the old navigators. Announce it whenever for me like, it doesn't matter.
It is so very Sunderland to get n new owner coming in at a time when the fans aren't even supposed to leave their home, never mind being allowed inside the stadium! It has been evident for a while that we are under a more competent helm, rather than a complete helmet. I'm desperately awaiting the takeover being sealed to officially mark the change and give us all an opportunity to celebrate.
I’ve no idea how his fund is working for him but as an example, trust funds are usually administered by a trustee who will be responsible for the management & safeguarding of whatever the fund is made up of i.e. cash stocks bonds etc. It should be making money the whole time it’s in place and if as suggested it’s around £2bn it would see a yield of at least 5% a year even if invested cautiously. That’s £100m in interest each year for a 23 year old, not bad at all. The fund may pay an annual sum to KLD so if he takes the natural yield each year he will comfortably be able to cover the costs of the club in league 1 or even the championship.
Good post as usual and to the point, l couldn't give a monkey's if they sign tomorrow or next month as long as it in the interest of SAFC, and maybe KLD is playing a long game to get this takeover right first and not after it's signed when it's to late. Sit back, relax and enjoy the ride
Cheers mate. As I've said the interest on his trust fund is way more than adequate to finance this club. The continual insistence, from some, that he'll need to beg his mam for money etc, is pretty silly tbh. I really wish, as L1 supporters, we'd accept what a lucky escape we've had and what a wonderful opportunity we have. This isn't someone like Campbell or Storey, who'd believe their 'charisma' will conquer all ... ... this is a calculating man who'll want systems, structure and proper procedures. He'll have spent a lifetime with advisers and will bring that philosophy here. Yes Storey would've been a wild ride but I'm much more excited by this tbh.
Spot on. I want professional, intelligent people running our club. Not an absent owner, not a couple of PR stuntmen lapping it up on talkSPORT etc.or a bloke that looks like he'd be at home in a bar fight in the Southern U.S.
After the frustration of FPP pulling out of buying our club and the feeling of devastation most of us would have felt at the thought of the two clowns in charge causing more problems for us if they stayed in charge, I for one feel we have at long long last fallen on our feet with our new owner. We have gone from idiots in charge to potential owners with fabulous wealth but no knowledge of football in the form of the Americans. Now I think we have the best of both worlds, a football fanatic with youth, experience and vision for the future and the financial clout to make things happen. He may not have the same financial wealth as the Yanks but I am sure we could not have a better chance to succeed than we have now. Onwards and upwards. KTF
I share your optimism for the future and the changes being made are something we haven't seen before at SAFC. How can supporter's not get excited for the future, my hope is the new people grow with the club and the club grow with them
I'm astounded any club would want him TBH, if they've watched him in any appearance for us what can they have seen in him?
