Got to ask this question (because I'm a miserable, negative ****er) why have we left it all this late? We know we're usually **** in January (and we have been), Williams and Phillips have done heroic job backing up Fab to get us over the line until January - why did we not have deals set up as soon as the window opened? I mean we're effectively seven points behind City now, and they come good in the second half of the season, but we were top of the league at the turn of the year. Glad they're getting at least one CB, but stable doors spring to mind.
I think the Matip injury forced our hand somewhat (even though we need signing before Matip was injured) but I also reckon the club wanted to drive the price down as much as possible. We've put in bids for multiple players today, with the hope of playing those clubs against each other.
False economy that if City win the league by 1 point. Even more lunatic if we don't qualify for the CL.
Mel Reddy: Liverpool trying to tie up loan move for Schalke’s Ozan Kabak, with an option (not obligation) to buy. Arsenal's Shkodran Mustafi is set to join the German club as the young defender’s replacement
Kabak could be a really good low cost option for us - small loan fee with the OPTION to buy. Could that then free up funds for another CB ...
Liverpool had an offer rejected by Braga for 21-year-old central defender David Carmo. The bid was below the €30m release clause. {@GFFN} Another talented young LCB option....
we lost Matip and Fab a few days ago....otherwise we’d likely only be talking one signing probably. Who knows what the club have done In January....but as Klopp said, it’s not as though they’ve done nothing. Anyone who is not in the know who is critical of the actions of the club is just guessing I’m afraid.
Never know exactly why. It looks like last minute panic abs club have been great in not going short term fixes in the past but sign of good club and management is to be flexible with the matip and fab injuries. better to fix the problem a bit late then never I guess. kabak seems to have been in radar for a while so that doesn’t seem like a panic but maybe just pushed through sooner than planned.
A lot of potential but he's very aggressive and can be rash (Lovren-esque). Used to playing in a high line and is very good in the air. He wouldn't be my number one choice but still a good option to have.
Just done some googling 4.1 aerial duels won a match Which is 5th best in league 77% aerial duel win % so seems like offers what we miss without vvd in defending long balls crosses set pieces. 20 years old, 7 caps and 70 top flight games so more experienced than our current 2 options as wel despite younger than Phillips and similar age to Williams.
In fairness Hull got relegated the year we picked up Robbo didn’t they ? I trust scouts atm as given me no real reason to doubt them
It sounds like we're linked to David Carmo, from Braga. He's a young LCB, incredible in the air and very good on the ball. I really do think we're trying to sign Davies, Kabak and one other ...
