Son was out on the wing for a lot of today ffs. Tbh, Brighton are so nervous at home that we should have stared with Vinicius up front with Son and Moura behind him. Think their speed and willingness to run at the defence would have made them nervous and made them drop 10 or 15 yards back instead of us inviting them to pressure us. The real issue (imho) is JM is a dinosaur. He was a great manager, just like Wenger was but like him he became dated cos he did not move with the times. Ferguson used to get knew coaches and advisers in on a regular basis...Brian Kidd, Mike Phelan and Steve MaClaren etc and he learned from them and it kept him sharp and his ideas fresh. Jose is just repeating what he was doing from 2004 tbh.
Bale was never going to succeed cos he is several yards slower and 8 years older in a league that is several yards faster than when he left.
The problem with Jose is that he hasn't improved us. All Spurs fans knew a ton of our players were cack and that's why Poch got sacked as he got too close to too many of them that I think it blinkered his view as to how **** some actually, it was a contrast to when he first joined us as he was ruthless with regards to binning under performers. Jose's come in and he's picked up some decent results but also had more than his fair share of poor results. He's also overseen 9 new signings and with the exception of Reguilon and Hojbjerg (I also like Vinicius but he rarely gets chances), the others have been a disaster, so he's added essentially 6 more cack players to an already cack squad, whilst he ridiculously approved new contracts for Dier and Alderweireld. What also goes against him is his style of football, it's never really great on the eye but it generally gets results. Though when it don't, it's a double whammy as it's a **** performance and a **** result. It's looking like a risk that didn't pay off for us. I don't see him improving and so it's likely going to be rough end of season where we may or may not scrape a Europa spot and may or may not win a cup, on current form plus the injuries to Kane and now possibly Ndombele, I ain't hopeful.
I don't know if it is dated tbh. I think he's aged rather than his football and just lacks the same strategical mindset he used to have. But ultimately, he's become divisive at any club he goes to when things go wrong. Actually probably before things go wrong these days.
Arteta is the long term answer for us and he has already won the FA Cup. Jose is never a long term answer, and he will be off soon enough as that’s what he does, it’s the state he will leave Spurs in that you need to worry about, and who you will get in to replace Kane and Son as they surely will move to a big club. Harry could return to his boyhood club as we need a back up for Lacasette
That really does depend on what your long-term ambitions are tbh. He'll get you so far, maybe leave you in a better state than you have been in the last 5 years, for the next man to take you to the next level.
I don't boo at matches, the only manager I have turned on was AVB but I absolutely think he should be sacked... tonight! We are inept in all aspects of the game... and have been for weeks. The performances v Palace, Wolves, Leicester, Fulham, Liverpool and Brighton have been the worst performances I have seen since AVB in 2014. No one on the boards or my mates I was texting or my daughters thought we'd score tonight. If we can see it why can't the special one?
He's already improved us. I know we had a ****ing ****ty start to this season, but already the mentality is better in the whole squad. Gonna take Arteta 2/3 transfer windows to build the squad he wants though. It's early days for him, but I think he's got what it takes and he's already got a pot under his belt.
