Rewatched highlights. What a tactical masterclass from Graeme, who woulda thought - Hayden in midfield, playing Manq our best RB, playing Lewis in a back four. Just remarkable. Who would have ever considered such things. Supporting a striker with a forward midfielder. Stand back, we have the new Jose. Bruce is a ****ing clown. Most basic changes ever, "working on a system" just die man.
Watched this yesterday morning. First game I have watched for a while and pleasantly surprised. Big difference was we moved the ball at pace whether we were playing sideways of forwards and it created a lot more space. The narrower midfield made it harder for the fullbacks as Everton had a lot of space out wide and often had two on one. Thought both of them handled it pretty well and still managed to get forward a bit. Schar had an excellent game and Wilson was outstanding. Actually looking forward to the next game for a change.
Credit where its due, fantastic performance from start to finish. Attitude was spot on, and nice to see us take a modern approach to the game. First time since Pardew I can recall us attacking the game, pressing the ball like that. Bruce being such a ****hawk all season, he'll just have to lump he ain't gonna get the credit for it even though its clearly his to get. Jones will take the credit, his job and his wife if he wants. I'll reserve judgement. Its one game. We need to approach every game like that. I suspect they'll fall back into old habits. Bruce can say they've been trying to get this going for ages all he wants. I don't doubt they have. I don't doubt it takes time. However he had a whole pre season, all of last season. He's had a full year and a half to sort this **** out. So regardless how negative a mindset Rafa had us in tactically, he's had ****ing ages to rectify it.
