He moved towards the ball. It's as deliberate as they come. You cant defend that, that's a penalty and a red.
After last week against Villa and now this one, I am close to sticking football. That has wrecked my evening, regardless of tonight’s outcome. football needs to have a good look in the mirror
No point having it then surely? VAR was never meant to improve the percentage of decision making. It was meant to reverse shocking decisions. May as well accept that a few offsides might go against you (like we did for 100 years) and actually have an enjoyable game where we can celebrate goals.
He moved toward where the ball ended up, because he was stretching out to block it with his leg. And he did so, and blocked the ball on to his arm. If it doesn't hit his thigh, it's a penalty and a red. But having hit his thigh, it's neither unless you believe that Cash possesses the power of precognition and could detect where a deflection off his leg would take the ball.
The arm was out but he flicked his hand back in that instance - sorry Schad, it’s a fecking penalty in any form of football.
Hasn’t affected my enjoyment I have to say, I always used to look straight for an offside flag after a goal anyway, so if they can get the time down then it would be Hunky Dory. What bugs me is if it goes people will just find something else to moan about and scapegoat. The rule book and application of it is the issue for me.
It's nothing to do with them it's the wording in the handball rule. They got it right according to it.
I'm sorry, but it simply isn't. The rule explicitly states that the other provisions -- arm away from the body, etc -- don't come into play if a close deflection carries it on to the arm/hand. It pains me to say that Lee Mason is right, but he is.
