3rd red card in 6 months, 4th of his NCFC career. He averages a red card every 26 games for Norwich. In that period, no player in the football league has been sent off more. 2 game ban too. 1 game for the 2 yellows, a second because it's his 2nd red of the season. At least McLean should be back next game.
It is annoying, but Emi hasn't been playing up to his usual high standing and perhaps a break will do him good and we have plenty of other options at the moment. The constant transfer rumours may be a distraction as well, but at last the transfer window closes on Monday.
Unfortunately Emi is just a disaster waiting to happen. Teams will be aware of his temper and will take advantage of it
On another day Emi makes the interception and runs up the other end to set someone up. He's a hot headed South American , it would be great to cut the silly fouls out of his game but like most of us geniuses, we are flawed
Emi's 7 goals and 6 assists more than makes up for his odd red cards. We'd be out of the top 6 teams if we hadn't had him. He's still our top ranked player on WhoScored. Incidentally, the final ratings on today's game show Hanley as MotM on 8.3, Gibson on 7.5 and Giannoulis on 7.3. Our attacking players may have disappointed today, but the defence and midfield scored very highly.
That maybe true, but if he wants to play for a top PL team he needs to control himself better. Not only did we go down to 10 men but he's out for the next 2 games. We need our best players to be available for the game against Swansea. Hanley makes a mistake and he's not a PL player. Buendia makes a mistake and it seems to be a case of that's okay, he can't help it, it's his latin blood.
On to Millwall without Buendia. This will be a tough game and it will be interesting to see how Farke sets his team up. Swansea away on Friday will be possibly our hardest game this season.
I'd include Emi, Todd and Teemu as well. Byram, if he can stay fit, could be another and Sørensen looks to have that potential, but we need to see more of him in midfield (I'd have liked to see him there instead of Rupp yesterday, though Rupp did well enough). Placheta, Mumba and Idah also look to have potential but it's early days for all of them.
Millwall away is always a tough game in more ways than one, but Swansea away will be a real test as was shown when they came to CR. Win it and we'll be in a really strong position but lose it and we're back in the mix again.
Meanwhile Grant Hanley has made the Team of the Week with his rating of 8.1 on WhoScored: https://www.pinkun.com/sport/norwich-city/canaries-defender-in-efl-team-of-the-week-7083336
