Yep Diamond to the bench and AOB likewise or dropped completely. Play the new lad Stewart if he signs up front alongside Wyke. Jones down the right, Geads on the left. Macfadzean dropped to the bench and the new lad at left back
We really missed Wright today, McGeady man of the match for me but Gooch changed the second half. VOKINS must play next game along with Jones At least we didn't lose.
Just when we looked like threatening to climb onto a crest of a wave. Nowt like the bonny lads to gently lower your mood even further during a miserable lockdown Saturday afternoon
We picked up a point, scored two goals and other teams will lose today. Portsmouth lost 4-0 at home last week and we beat Lincoln 4-0. We're all shyte but we can get better, I don't think the others can. (That's my best shot make ... hope that helps )
There's certainly not been any improvement in terms of results since he came in. Have performances improved massively? - not by what I read on the forum, its mainly looking a bit dire at the moment.
on top and just needed to get the ball to the corner flag to waste time, they have frigging done us again, weak as piss in defence o Bien and Mcgeady had chances to finish that game off, not one decent 90 mins in 12 home league games every team has been better than us, shocking compared to 2 seasons ago the defence needs sorting and 2 new goalies and a striker. Charlton game off thankfully so will stay 6th for the time being, this is the worst in our history tonight, pathetic.
Watching that match, did we not have an inkling of the tactics Gillingham were going to use? The way we countered (or not) their high balls and kept giving free kicks and long throws, it makes me wonder. If other teams have the personnel, that is what we are going to face from now on. Aerial bombardment of our area and pressing when playing out from the back. Wyke and O'Brien hardly had a pass or a chance. Is Sanderson not good in the air? Should he have been one of the CBs? LJ gets the big bucks to get the system and tactics right... not today?
Agree totally. Hindsight eh? Last season Parkinson used his experience against Evans by asking the EFL for a strong ref. Johnson didn’t get a strong ref today and it cost us in the end.
Dunno like. If these new lads are as good a crosser of the ball as they're supposed to be wouldn't hurt. Plus Stewart is apparently able to hold the ball up which none of our forwards can do.
It is the worst SOL pitch I have seen - not easy to play possession play on it. They played a very good high press and had an extra man in midfield. It made getting on the ball and playing triangles really difficult. The minute they got it into the box it went and we got deeper and deeper. Danny kept asking for a screen on the centre forward but Grant or Scowen are too small for that. Id have got Winchester on for that in the second half. I cant get too down though. They are a side that will give every team a headache. I still think we are on an upward curve and confidence wont be knocked from today. KTF.
Pass and move was the key today , and not getting involved in pushing and shoving which went their way repeatedly and of course defending the high ball into the box goes without saying but easy to say difficult to do. They don't play football though, they just play percentages and it works for them, we have to cope with it, and we haven't, just look at their record against us. Its horrible to take I agree, but we have been well warned on what is coming every time we play them.
typical, said to my son after 15 minutes that the ref will decide the game, how the hell did jackson not get at least a yellow?...so many arms in faces even shearer got a red for consistant fouling once yet he got nowt, not getting to grips with that long throw was annoying, gooch should have had a free kick not them but that was typical, it seems any time we get a promising break somehow they end with a free kick and we just cannot get any momentum going (not just today but in general). think the fat controller and his mighty gob won them a lot...i have seen the odd game where the ref will let a couple of 'niggly type fouls' go and that seems to change the game into something resembling a contest, but these whistle happy tw@ts spoil most games. that said, we did not do enough to win this one, even leadbitters goal had 'luck' written all over it and mcgeady needed a deflection, gooch provides so much needed energy but really needs to work on what he is going to do with the ball at the end of his runs, our attack seemed to move up another gear when onien was allowed out to play as well but too late to change anything, i expected more of an onslaught from them late on but they were always likely to score. performances wise, mcfadz had a better than usual game (the new competition for his place on his mind?) wyke had a rough time from the ref but was not at the races today, scowen is starting to look like a settled player in the side now, power is doing little wrong at RB but another who needs to learn what to do with the ball as he can put some great balls into the box, as many as he sends high and wide, unfortunately... burge i see is taking some pelters, i wont blame him for either of the goals but he still does not fill me full of confidence, many a time looking in two minds and a keeper cannot afford that imho. again, a team that actually came to get at us go away with a share of the points, but they are full of confidence and on a decent run, i just cannot understand how we cannot get the same sort of good feeling going and turn it into a much needed run.
If I had a penny for every time I spent a Saturday afternoon anxiously waiting for the inevitable last minute equaliser against us I'd have nineteen pound seventy three.
How about if I send you a cheque ... ... can we call it quits and go on to win the play-off final at Wembley
Baffled me tbh when people said he’s been doing alright recently and his inclusion in the team has helped get the best out of Wyke. I think he’s been **** in every game personally and he’s up there with the worst to ever play for the club. Absolute anonymous garbage who doesn’t offer anything positive at all. Be interesting to see what percentage of opposition shots on target end up in the back of the net because Burge barely stops a thing. If you get a shot on target against us and it’s not blocked by a defender chances are it’s going in. I’m fed up of the bloke. Can’t even be bothered to rip into McFuckface at left back. He’s atrocious and that’s all that needs to be said. A woman beating piece of ****.
