Burge is just an indication of what has been done to our club in the last 18 months. He was signed as a backup. He’s become number 1 by default not by merit. Going to take more than 1 window to sort out.
I'm sure the players sit and nod when LJ is going through the tactics ... ... probably in the way I do when Mrs Smug explains why Ken Barlow pushed Peter too far and ended up on his arse. We need a real captain on the field and we don't have one.
Defence were horrendous at coping with their long balls, O'Brien couldn't get into the game at all and when he did just gave it away, McGeady fantastic for both our goals but his passing in general was all over and Diamond looked like a little boy lost. Both Gooch and O'Nien looked good when they came on though. Hopefully Jones and Vokes can make a big difference and Wright coming back should help us against long ball onslaughts like that next time.
I thought Power had another good game at RB, put several top drawer crosses in and I don't recall him putting a foot wrong defensively.
The only positive I can take from today is that Jones will be in contention for the next game. We need him desperately.
We seemed uncomfortable Fromm set pieces and nothing else second half. Geads should’ve had a hat trick . Missed 2 good chance and O’Brien missed a sitter too. They hit the post from a hooked effort and the bar first half. On chances, it could’ve been 5-3 to us. Just thought we were far better than them second half as they played no football at all
I would start both Gooch and Jones next game. Bin off Diamond and O'Brien. The latter is absolutely ****. Offers nothing.
I personally didnt think it was so much we were bad, more down to them being good in a horrible ugly way we would struggle to cope with. They played to their strengths and if I am honest thought they deserved the win. They were very good down their right which is where we seem weakest. Long throws into box and they just kept putting in there all day long. They will take points off other teams as the season goes on. One of those days where you take the point and try to learn some lessons.

I wouldn't mind that along with Gooch instead of O'Brien to stay up and support Wyke which he will be better at.
This is where I struggle to understand. The passing is terrible from players who are more than capable. How can the likes of McGeady, Leadbitter, Power, etc, keep giving away possession.
They pressed us high - we cannot play a long ball to our forwards as their hold up play is ****e it was fairly easy for them to pin us back and bombard us. Whoever scouted O'Brien needs peddled -cannot see what he bring to the team at all.
His tactics were very poor today mate as we all know Gillingham come and fight for everything and dig in. LJ didn't have a clue and didn't change it when it was painfully obvious what was needed for me it's 2 points dropped
McGeady reminded me of myself trying to play 5-a-side today (goals apart). Does some hard work, makes a bit of space for himself, sees someone making a decent run 5-10 yards away and misses him completely with the pass
I was clearing the barn out the other day and there was an old tree trunk that needed shifting. I strolled over to lift it up but it wouldn't move. I looked to see if something was holding it down ... ... then I realised my 65 year old body can't do what my 25 year old brain thinks it can do.
