Allow me to join in the adoration of the Ron. That 4-1 at Old Trafford was amazing - especially as I ended up in the Stretford End with my Saints scarf hidden down my sleeve! Anyone else remember the 6-2 at Stamford Bridge when Ron got 4? A favourite moment is one I only saw on telly, back in the days of the old Home Internationals when he scored for Wales against Scotland. Scotland had dome their homework and so had 78 platers marking Ron when the ball was crossed, and he outjumped the lot cleanly and headed past Sprake (OK 78 is a slight exaggeration, but you get my drift). A truly great player, and great to know he is still around and Saints fans have given him a helping hand. Least he deserves.

Correct, so far. Here's a clue. At one point in his career, Bally played for Everton at the same time as the other player.

Here's one you'll like, or perhaps not. As before, name every player you can see, and the opposition. I'll let you off with the venue. If you're feeling brave you can have a go at the Saints player with his back to us, standing behind Ron. It's probably Micky, but it could be anybody. Care to offer candidates..? Don't bother naming the guys above the stand..!

Incidentally, you can easily see how all-seating reduced ground capacities in this picture.

OK, Stormysaint & Beddytare, between you, you have correctly identified a few. You know how many you've got correct.

    Leicester City
    Peter Shilton
    Bobby Stokes [10]
...and it's almost certainly Micky, because he also played with his shirt over his backside. I think Ron started to wear his shirt back inside his shorts later on. Micky ALWAYS wore the shirt outside.

The last player is a toughie, though I do know who he is. He played for LFC and won the League Cup in 1964 and played cricket for Leicestershire as a batsman and med-fast bowler, and won the Gillette Cup in 1975**. Anybody from the LFC forum on here..? Link this to your forum and identify the man.

**Why are some people so bloody talented..?. ;)

    BTW, Welcome Stormy.

Welcome stormysaint....glad you joined they are a grand lot on here.....although a few might not be to your taste.....have to admit I prefered the shirt of the Keegan era.....I too looked closely and thought maybe shilts but not sure. The player on the far left seems so familier to me but just can't put a name to him. Probably will kick myself when it is revealed........

I have a picture of Bobby stokes by the side of me here in my study, in the form of a painting of his most famous goal in Saints history. I looked at the two pictures I even put my laptop close to the one on the wall and decided it wasn't him....I'm bloody hopeless.....well that is what Mrs B says frequently.....<laugh>

OK peeps, we'll let you stew on that Leicester City player; and seeing as I haven't got anything better to do at the present time, I'll post another photo. This one is easier, so I want the players, the opposition, the ground, you name it. Plus, any other nuggets you may know about those involved.

Gosh Beddy you have a study. That is very posh. I have an arbeitszimmer which I can sometimes get into if my grandchildren or the lovely Mrs Godders haven't determined they will use it instead. This means that I can usually get in there for a short while when the very lovely Mrs Godders is cooking supper and that's it.

It is definitely the Arsenal The goal keeper is still there or was, as a coach appreciate he has probably retired about 10 years ago......how time does fly. The one jumping the highest is Ron Davies........<laugh> Need to get something right......<laugh> and it is at Arsenal in their old stadium. My brain will not kick re the goalkeeper's name.....sorry.

Bob Wilson's middle name was Primrose.

I thought the other player was Pat Rice but wasn't sure so I looked it up and I think it is.

I thought Storey was a hard as nails midfielder. He was a bit of a dodgy character too if I remember importing dirty films and running a brothel.
