anymore good news and ill be bashing the bishop, i said in a post yesterday if we go up we will need a stronger squad than this and we only have this window and the summer one to get it right, and i think we are deffo going in the right direction
Ower the moon with this business. On the face of it 2 ideal signings that will bring a lot of what we need. Onward!
Not used to the appliance of science or clear thinking are we , no doubting a bit more thought going in to our dealings get rid of of Grigg and Graham anddon’t say we have replacements lined up or we will wet ourselves!!!
So Johnson doesn't want to settle for play offs, he wants to "win the league". Regardless of what happens the next few weeks we have a manager we can get behind and I reckon todays two signings are really going to help us push on.
We are normally behind who ever is our manager , LJ compared to our recent managers is a breath of fresh air he is confident and ambitious . I am sure the changes are due to the forthcoming takeover , the infrastructure is almost complete LJ is trying to instill a winning mentality back in to the team/club - long may it continue .
Anybody else getting seriously excited for the rest of the season? Just watched Jones' interview and that has got my blood rushing for the club like it hasn't for a few years. I will always love my club but before the relegation from the prem I suppose I was just going through the motions. Now with this takeover (sorry supposed takeover) the new behind the scenes team (Speakman et al) and now LJ talking players into forsaking teams in higher leagues to sign for us, I'm getting a major love fest for this club again. The kind where you can't wait for the next game to come. The kind where you can get totally involved in games again and groan when they don't play the ball where you reckon it should be played but forget about the moaning when it ends up in the back of the net! Lads I may be premature saying this but we're getting OUR club back again - a club that we can be proud of! Hawaaaaay!!!!!!!!!
Must admit I feared the worst when LJ brought Winchester in the other week, thought it was going to be another wasted window. Finally after all these years we’ve signed 2 players who could have a real impact: Well done to LJ and all involved in getting these over the line.
Johnson said he would sign players that wouldn't make sense at first but to stay patient and it would become obvious why they were bought. Sounds like Winchester is one of those guys
might be just me hoping for 'too much' but with jordan i got distinct undertones of 'there might be a permanent deal on the table if promotion happens', did not get that with jake although i think they are both only going to improve us. with others probably lined up, once in place we could then see the best of winchester, LJ has identified players that are not only needed but ones that will fit into his 'vision', why do i feel as if promotion is a foregone conclusion now?...
I got the same impression. He almost interviewed like a permanent signing being "sold by the vision for the future". A loan signing wouldn't normally talk like that as how would it effect them?
I've been told very little except not to believe LJ's Mr Cool act when he's being blasé about ins and outs. It seems the club are working non-stop to get LJ's requests over the line. It all sounds very professional and is leaving the manager free to manage. Is this really us ... ... what's happening to our club
Just a thought on the striker signing. As we are now using data to identify players that are performing better than their perceived value, we could potentially expect to see players with a poor goal return? If they had a good goal return they wouldn’t be undervalued as goals are pretty much the only way clubs traditionally value strikers. Clearly goals are of the utmost importance so I’d love to know what we’d target in the data if not goals. But people should be patient if another Wikipedia search reveals 2 goals in 33 games etc
A solid infrastructure built with people who know their role and are competent in achieving what is required - in other words accountability which has not been seen around our club for many many years . The new owner has to be driving this even though the announcement of the takeover has not been made . I think at last we are starting to get our club back and moving in the right direction though I am sure their will be set backs their is a lot of positivity around the club and the fans .
It's slightly sad that Donald & Methven are being totally shown up before they've even officially left the building ... ... just shows how the last two years have been a total waste of time, effort and money for all concerned. When I think about trudging home from Bristol or Accrington. I could cringe
Sounds great to me. I think there will be a lot of activity for us in the market. Maybe another couple in and 3 or 4 out. He seems a clever bloke and won't have taken him long to work out who the plodders are.
