My introduction to Theakston's Old Peculiar was at the beginning of my numerous, drunken adventures at the Plough and Harrow in Monknash. This was back in the day when their motto was "we close when it gets light" Would go there for a night out and get back to Cardiff three days later!
Oh, you were an early leaver then? When we first moved here 32 years ago we heard they were having a beach party. Strange we thought, it's not close to the beach. Solution - The landlord hired several tons of sand and dumped it in the bar with deckchairs and umbrellas. Sorted!!!
Back to football for the minute.......... I've noticed Barnsley have just rejected a £1M bid from Millwall for Alex Mowatt - he's got to be worth all of that despite being out of contract in the summer. I'd like Mick to go up there on Wednesday and come back with 3 points...................and Mowatt for our midfield.
Spoilsport!!!! Wouldn't argue with your last point but even better, offer £1.5m on condition he signs before tomorrow night.
Sensible move for him. Didn't seem to adapt with us and injuries didn't help. Good to see Brown returning. Has done well in Scotland and could mean we don't need another CB.
Well, would you?..................... https://www.footballinsider247.com/...=Social&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1611918257
Yes, on a loan or a short term contract to the end of the season. Would bring a bit of pace and forward movement to our pedestrian midfield. Wages could be an issue.
Or him? https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/its-just-wrong-cardiff-city-19736194
Williams, yes. Keep him fit and he will add the missing spark to our midfield. With him and Tomlin we can even afford one at a time on the physio bench. In saying that injuries have dogged a very promising career with only 178 league games, many off the bench, in the last 10 years. However in the last 2 seasons for Charlton he has played 44 times, more than ever before. Rhodes, no. He will be 31 next Friday so doesn't fit with the aim of reducing our average age. Also, for the last few years he has shuttled around clubs without much success. In his heyday with Huddersfield and Blackburn he had a scoring rate of a goal in just under every 2 games. Very impressive up to 2016. Not so since, 1 in every 5 with only 120 games in 5 years. At best he would be a permanent sub and a impact player.
