According to Mad Bob ( I know ) over the road, Vokins and Jones are done and the CF Stewart will follow but not quite done yet. Another poster said Ross Stewart to sign on Monday.
It's not a delay in the approval of Louis-Dreyfus, it's a delay in the paperwork ratifying it. It's like when you've had a police CRB check, for a new employer, who then has to produce a contract.
"Vokins has offered Sunderland fans an insight into what they can expect from him in the coming weeks." “I want to come here and play games, and help the team get promoted this season,” he said, speaking to safc.com. "I feel I can bring my qualities to the team; I’m good on the ball and I can deliver crosses, so hopefully that allows the team to score more goals. It’s a big club and I can’t wait to get started.” Vokins is set to challenge Callum McFadzean for a starting spot in the side, with Denver Hume set for a spell on the sidelines. Jordan Jones loan is only subject to a medical but there's a chance he'll be in the squad tomorrow.
I can see him going straight in at LB ( tomorrow hopefully ) McFadzean isn’t a patch on Hume so I think it’ll be Vokins spot from now on until Hume is fit. Hopefully the kid is that good Denver will have to work hard to get back in the team.
Pleased with Vokins, highly rated at S'ton and I'd be shocked if there wasn't Championship interest. Same for Jordan Jones, signings that send out the right vibes of intent for me. I'd like the striker as well but lets see what happens.
This has got to be a sop to McFadzean's pride coz he will lose the LB slot, maybe not tomorrow (I would say Jake may only make the bench at best) but we will still need injury cover at LB (and left midfield).
Jones is a signing that really excites me. I know we were linked when Ross first took over and he ended up at Rangers. A lad with a point to prove and if he can play at his best he's a very, very good player for this level. Again it shows intent, its not as if he's an unknown kid or an old plodder on a free. Hopefully the quality added helps us to bridge that gap to the top two.
Finally seem to be making the sort of signings we expected for this league. Good promising young players, with a desire to improve and prove themselves as first team players.
