That allowed the buses to travel quicker and mow down more recently tested people.

They refused to sign up to the vaccine for three months and then when they saw it could be a success they now want what they could have ordered had they signed up to it on time
The UK government is saying NO you will only receive what you are entitled from when you signed up to it

UK phase three trials of the experimental Novavax COVID-19 vaccine have found it demonstrated 89.3% efficacy against the virus.

Preliminary analysis showed the new UK variant was detected in more than half of the coronavirus cases recorded in the trials, with the vaccine candidate shown to be 95.6% effective against the original strain and 85.6% effective against the variant.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson said the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency will start to assess the vaccination straight away.

Another big step forward in getting as many in the U.K. as possible vaccinated?

I know nit picking.... But what about the vaccines?

Most tests were done with the 2nd dose shortly afterwards. No one knows just how effective having a single dose is. But anything is better than nothing i suppose.

I suppose in the ideal world, the second dose would have been administered, as per whatever. However, the hospitals were about to keel over, some probably already had. So those that be, made the right moral choice under the circumstances, whether it was the right medical one, only time will tell.

if a decision to give as many as possible the short term immunity is right or wrong will not be known until later in the year. Getting some protection and with some luck the R rate down before the summer months will help ease the strain on hospitals and the amazing staff/nurse etc.

Wasn't there talk of changing to 6 weeks?

We're getting news of our second jabs in the coming weeks as most have had firs. Doesn't sound like everyone will have to wait 12 but we'll find out soon.

Think it's wrong personally. More at risk people in the community should get it imo.

I agree on all points. But the testing on a 94% chance was done on 21 days.

But at this stage, i'll take a 50/50 chance. It's 50% better than nowt.

From what I gather they are playing the law of percentages, so who is most likely to die, to get the jab ie over 70/80's. Yes, you might get people in other groups 'pop their clogs' but there is an 'acceptable' death rate as per the course of life.

12 weeks is the maximum they’ve committed to, it’ll vary by area how soon you get the second jab, dependent on the demographic and available resource.

Yeah I get that. Just interested to see when we can have our second, apparently the booking will open in February when clearly it won't have been 12 weeks for anyone, though it may just be planning months in advance.

My old man was told to shield (60+ & COPD) but not heard anything yet. Would think it was bollocks if I was offered my second before him his first.

Priority outside patient facing healthcare should be everyone over 60 (plus vulnerable outside that age group), once 80% of those done and the NHS will be able to cope with anything else in theory, and we'll reach that acceptable level of deaths.
