Ricky van Wolfswinkel

Discussion in 'Tottenham Hotspur' started by Hoddle is a god, Oct 8, 2011.

  1. I have no idea who this player is, but apparently Liverpool and United are after him.

And, by Christ! I hope one of them gets him! Can you imagine the fun we'd have with him at games? That's got to be one of the most ridiculous names ever!

For his sake, I hope his agent is begging him to go to Germany or Austria, or anywhere where a "wolfswinkle" doesn't meant what it means in English!

We were linked with him too, a while ago.
I'm still not convinced that it's anything other than a journalists' joke, like Rod Fanni being rumoured to join every club in England.

Perhaps those chaps at Molineux should sign him then?

He's do wonders for shirt sales in their club shop.

I saw him a few times at Utrecht, quality young striker. Has van Wolfswinkel curled across his shirt btw. Joined Sporting Lisbon this season, so I can't see him moving too soon.

  8. That's as may be, but in English, a wolf's winkle is a wolf's winkle.

It's just one step away from having "Knobhead" emblazoned across one's back, as far as I am concerned.

It's not an ideal name but if a player is quality and would score goals aplenty that I couldn't care less what their surname was.

  10. Are you absolutely sure about that?

I mean, what if we had the next Georgie Best, only his surname was Scrotum?

I'd probably not rush out and get Scrotum 7 on my shirt but i'd still be happy for Scrotum to bang in goals for us.

  12. Commentators would have to watch themselves, wouldn't they?

"Spurs' Scrotum is all over their defence!"

"Scrotum was stretched by that pass!"

"Scrotum comes away with the ball!"

    "Scrotum dribbles down the wing!"

    and so forth...

They'd pronounce it differently, like they do with anyone else with an "interesting" name.
Kuntz and Quim spring to mind.

    That's actually worse, CS.
It makes him sound like some sort of joke character from 'Allo 'Allo.

**** that that's how much per letter? I'm happy with Ba. To be honest I think you need proven quality to take you forward he's linked with the toon but he's not really going to get in your team surly??
