Yeah - more than 5x as many days down as to go.

Can't say I'm really feeling the benefit - have lost a bit of weight but I suspect that's mainly down to diet and exercise.

In fact, in some ways it's worse: When I wake up feeling like ****e in the morning, I can no longer blame the booze - instead I have to admit I'm just getting old!

So last year I went down from 80kg to 67kg pretty rapidly, I'm between 68 and 69 at the moment, want to go down to above 65, which is gonna be a bit of a challenge.

Giving up booze is pretty impossible for me, and keto takes too long, so methinks I'll just starve myself for a while.

That's good going, mate, to shift that weight. If I had to choose between booze and grub, however, the latter wins every time.

Problem is one generally leads to the other tho innit....they do go rather well hand in hand though I must admit.

Nowt finer than kicking back and watching a good toon match with a massive **** off pizza and a crate of ale....put the diet to one side cos Steve Bruce has ruined any ****ing hopes of that happening again any time soon like !!

Serious question - has supporting the toon got extra depressing lately or is the misery of the last few weeks just a result of no longer having alcohol to cushion the blow?

I keep thinking we will pull it round, ASM will win us two or three games and we will pull clear. Is the lack of booze driving me loopy? <laugh>

It was depressing for a while early on there, the pressure on SB and the goons above him has quite rightly ramped up a hundred fold (at least) and i have now moved past the depressing stage into comedic bliss. The ramblings of SB and his inept selections, substitutions and endless ****ing excuses are now far outweighing the ****e football for me like. I take comfort in the knowledge that SB is on borrowed time now and we will not be subject to the ****e he insists on serving us up forever (hopefully not beyond this season) and we can finally look forward to better times ahead.

Wonder if SB is doing dry January !

5km on the treadmill in 22 mins 05 seconds, a new PB for me. The last 2km was brutal. Should break the 22 min mark on Saturday. Aiming for sub 20 mins by the summer. That would be some achievement for a short-arsed middle-aged blokey with (allegedly) asthma <laugh>

That's good like, definitely a good time, but have you done longer distances?

I've recently turned the speed down a bit, and found I can run for much longer, ie if I put at 10.5km/h as opposed to my usual 11.5, then I can go 2 hours non stop, instead of just an hour.

That's gym of course, I've actually got into running outside recently too, do a 7km circuit most days, takes about 35 mins.

Can recommend having a couple of those 250ml zero sugar Boost cans before running long distances, gets ya pretty wired like.

My secret running trick is one of those slimline cans of Red Bull, and a few drops of olive oil.

Give the can a good shake, coat it in the oil, and stuff it up your arse right before you start a workout.

Makes the first few miles a bit uncomfortable, but gives you a hell of a burst of acceleration in the final sprint!

I've done a few 10km on the tread, I need to get outside though. 7km in 35 mins is good going, I might try the Boost cans as well (I used to neck it with vodka).

Managed an outdoor 5k in 23:26 today. Not too bad, given I was having to dodge all the dog walkers and old ladies giving me evil looks if I got within about 10 yards.

Nice one, mate. Just do a shoulder charge on the dog walkers if they get in the way, like.

Who exactly are you running from?

Can’t be Heed as he struggles to walk. Can’t be Jak as he’s too far away and he’d send a servant to collect any money he’s owed. Can’t be customers as you’re not allowed any (too soon? ).

Only reason I can think of is if Chippy owes you some money as he can’t half shift for a little, short armed, Mackem hillbilly when he might have to get his money out to pay for anything.

Only if they have a ****e dog. If it's something half decent, like a lab or a spaniel or even just a decent-size mongrel then I'm happy to go round them. But if it's one of those fluffy things that look like they've stepped out of Build-A-Bear and regrets the decision, then I've got no time for it. Or their owners.

So as a person who’s drank most days for the last 3 years. Who feels crap. Are you saying that it’s not the problem?
