Doherty is struggling on the right so **** knows why you would want him on his wrong side! We also look a bit light down the middle so hopefully won't get overrun. Firmino looked good v Manure and Salah always seems to do well against us, so we'll probably need 3 at least to get a result. Just hope Sonny & Harry are on song.
I suspect we are being hard on Doherty who, do not forget, had covid. Lots of people say it took more out of them than they thought and some have taken weeks to recover. He has looked below par and not the player we bought. Tonights a good night for him to show us doubters how wrong we are by producing the kind of performance that will confirm why we were so pleased to sign him. Leave me alone RCL I am just creating balance.
I think Jose has lost faith in Toby and Sanchez to be honest, can’t say I blame him either. Davies does a decent job as a LCB too. Doherty’s obviously a massive risk considering he’s not performed on his favoured flank let alone the opposite but I suppose a possible plus point of him likely being up against Salah is that Salah will presumably cut inside more so than run the line so that should favour a right footed defender in theory. “In theory”, lol.
Wasn't the last Liverpool game, one where we had Davies and Reguillon down the left, with Reg playing as a winger? I think we might see the same again with the flanks reversed. Playing Doherty or Aurier down the wrong flank when we have a left back available seems unlikely to me. Doesn't feel like a particularly exciting line up either way. Lets hope Liverpool are as bad as Sheff Utd were against us.
It's that or the back three, which it apparently isn't. Bergwijn on the left and a 4-4-2? I've no idea.
Probably just to help Aurier and then the left side will be more attacking Typical Jose to be cautious
