‘David Moyes has revealed he regrets saying Sunderland would be in a relegation battle, just two games into his tenure as Black Cats manager.’

I don't hate him like a lot of others do. But he is in part responsible for our horrendous slide.

He made bad decisions, cost us huge amounts of money, an in no small way pushed us to relegation.

I can't imagine why anyone would be glad to see him doing well personally. He gave us nothing at all.

Sorry, but just don’t get this not realising bit. It was clear to us as supporters what was happening and all over the message boards. If we knew it then it would certainly have been common knowledge in the football world. Moyes knew exactly what he was walking into.

The idea that a manager takes a job at that level without discussing funding is plain daft.

In my time supporting Sunderland there have been 2 managers who have been appointed and systematically destroyed our club Lawrie Mackemenemy and Gargoyle Moyes..... Having lived through both disasters Moyes was worse. He inherited a decent squad who were on the back of some outstanding results at the end of the previous season. He broke it up, signed dross and Everton has-beens. Where we are now is a direct result of Moyes. How any Sunderland fan (given our current standing in football) can remotely be sympathetic to this dour, oxygen thief is beyond me.

Tbh I don't have a deep hate for Moyes. I think he came in to a tough job and made some fundamental errors of judgement. But I think our club was in a real bad position when he arrived.

I also remember once we were relegated we started to be linked with a lot of young players. Who were undoubtedly being scouted by his team. The type of signings we probably needed. If he hadn't walked I honestly believe we'd of never been playing in this league now.

Moyes took a decent side and destroyed it both with bad decisions and a relentless refusal to try and have a positive influence on anything to do with the club. Wasn't he the twat who turned down a keen as mustard M'Vila in favour of paying at least twice as much (club record fee of 13.6 mil) for macaroni head Ndong?

I'd fall short of wanting him to burn in the fiery pits of hell but do I wish him well? Not in the slightest, why would I, why would any Sunderland fan.

I have nothing but contempt for Moyes. He was paid a fortune and was utterly negative and downbeat from the first to the last day he was here.

I'd rather have a pint with Bob Stokoe in his present state than have one with Moyes, at least me and Bob could reminisce about football doubt Moyes could join in in that sort of conversation.

He took over a bad situation and made things worse. Was probably waiting for the payoff as soon as he walked in. Dont hate him, dont like him either. Doing well at West Ham. Makes me wonder how he can run that lunatic asylum and not ours.

It’s a strange one because I do feel he was probably made some promises by Short with regards to funding that the American never kept. We were in a hole financially, having said that what money he did spend was badly wasted and I still don’t understand the decision not to sign M’Vila but then spend £15m on Ndong. Ultimately I think he gave up when the transfer window closed and he felt the squad wasn’t strong enough.

He wasn’t helped either by Kone throwing his toys out of the pram when Everton came calling and it looked like Khazri just lost all motivation for whatever reason.

I was delighted when he became our manager and had hopes of him doing with us what he did at Everton. SAFC was (and still is) in a right mess at the time and it was probably a case of right appointment but at the worst possible time.

I hear a few saying when he came in "It was a mess"...Not sure where that comes from. Big Sam inherited a mess and turned the whole thing around. The place was buzzing. He was given £27m to spend and he spent it on dross. Moyes is the worst manager EVER to have the job. even worse than Wilkinson and Mackemenemy

There was hope under Allardyce, but all he did was what all the other managers did before him. Go on a run second half of the season. Who knows how next season would have went if Allardyce stayed. Better than it went probably. But there were 6 key people that we needed for next season.

Allardyce - Went to manage England
M'Vila - Still think there was a reason we didnt sign him permanently, because it was a no brainer otherwise. Something behind the scenes. Possibly out of Moye's hands. After all, he was a colourful character. If M'Vila was being handed to us on a plate, and Moyes declined, then he should have been shot.
Kaboul - Got homesick, wanted to leave.
Kone - Wanted to leave, decided to stay, wasnt the same player
    Kirchoff - Injury prone
Kazri - Wasnt the same without the others.

All of these were more than the sum of their parts. I remember at the time before the new season after Allardyce left everything seem to collapse. Moyes had to try and pick up the pieces but managed to scatter them further. Even if Allardyce had stayed the club was always on a knifes edge, after all, I seem to remember that we were not convinced Allardyce was going to stay, England or no England. At some point, the way we were being run, our decline was always going to happen, Moyes just quickened up the process.

I remember reading a quote from Moyes at the time saying that he wanted to get value for money, so he refused to pay circa £7m for M'Villa because he had a few months left on his contract and paid £13.6m for N'dong and £8m for Djilobodji...is it any wonder we are in the mire with value for money deals like that

    Didier Ddong .........£13.6 million
    Papy Djilobodji.......£8 million
    Paddy McNair........£5 million
    Donald Love..........£1 million
    Darron Gibson .....£2.5 million
    Bryan Oviedo .......£2 million
Then all the loan fees on Januzaj, Denayer, the free transfers from Everton Old Peoples home, the prick spent easily 40 million quid and people said he wasnt backed by Short !
Short got a lot wrong but he backed his managers, I just think this dour prick tipped him over the edge.
It never gets mentioned in the media just how much of a mess he made here in 12 months, he inherited a team that was high in confidence, well organized and fitter than most teams we have ever had, he destroyed it all in a few short months. I cant stand the prick.

We simply agree to disagree mate.
Moyes destroyed what was a team that was buoyant after a very good end to a season overseen by Allardyce. Who would have thought after the game against Everton and all the excitement generated, we would have a manager saying no more than 6 games later "we are in a relegation fight" Just a shocking manager.

I remember us being linked and scouting N'Dong in the June under Big Sam. When Moyes came in, he brought very little to no backroom staff in with him and said we're sticking with Sams Blueprint, I found that odd at the time. IMO N'Dong was a Allardyce target and "Blueprint" signing. As for the rest, well, history takes care of that. Short did back managers, you're right, it's a myth he didn't.RE the Everton players,I can understand to a degree that a manager goes to who he knows for free when the money runs out. Keane did it with Kav,Connolly,Yorke, Cole and a few others etc, but also added. Moyes was asked in an interview on Radio Newcastle "is the Sunderland job everything advertised in the brochure"? "No, but I'm here and have a job to do". Whole situation was rancid from the off.
