I will bang on about this again, but take my case. I am self-employed, I fall through the 'gaps' in the benefit system so have not had a penny from the government since last March, when my income started to take a hit. I have managed to scrape through until now, living off a pittance and my savings. Not only have I lost earnings but business adds I placed recently to the tune of hundreds of pounds are worthless. And yet, all around me, the message is Stay at Home. I am still out at work, in danger of spreading or catching the virus but with little choice of going to work when I can. Millions of others, however, have been furloughed.
Come on now mate, watching the Toon has brought some much needed joy into our otherwise miserable lives.... ... I'm beginning to see your point
I know how you feel, I'm self employed but employ staff my business has been losing at least £4k per month I still have to pay Business rates, Staff pensions, N.I, PAYE, Business Insurance, vehicles insurance Gas, electric, water telephone/ mobile, internet The government close my main core businesses down and I'm here at work 'just in case' something turns up I have only paid myself £100 per month since last March to keep money to pay debts My only saving grace is that I own my own building and I don't have to pay rent as that would of sent me under the amount of rent that I would have to pay on 7500 square foot property in the town centre beggars belief
We've been incredibly patient during this, Hung. Incredibly patient. If the government keep kicking that can down the road, I feel there will be a time when businesses say enough is enough.
got to remember that the 40K I have lost so far is only the tip of the iceberg for me as I would of earned that 40k x 2 no body works just to cover their overheads - it's not a viable business then
Of course, there are the hypocrites out there who never fail to amaze. Take a solicitor I know, at christmas she went to another region to stay with family for five or six days. Also, at the house was a family member who traveled from Tier 4 London...thus against government advice, I believe. She returned to work early january, and complained of a sore throat. She was asked to book a test, took it, but on the day of the test attended work before and after taking it, thus endangering the health of fellow staff members. She got the results of the test two days later, it was negative. But she did knowingly risk others by attending work. And this woman is the worst type, keep your distance from me at all times and wear mask in case.you pass it on to me (she couldn't possibly spread it to others). Supposedly educated woman, and a first-class hypocrite.
There's been few... Tory voters just making excuses for Boris. They've used it as an excuse to look after their pals the ****s
Breach of lockdown rules should be a strict liability criminal offence punishable by a spell in prison. It is endangering public health.
Certainly not a Tory voter Sorry New Zealand quite correct but it’s only got a small population, but yep an island and they look like they have done a good job
I wasn't talking about anyone specifically mate.... Just generally. They've made an arse of it from day 1.
