Just watching Sky Sports News and it's reporting that Barcelona are 1 BILLION Euros in debt! Just an astronomical amount!

Both Barca and Real Madrid live in constant debt. They have been ran like that for years. I imagine this last two years with little success and especially the last year with the pandemic will have hit both very hard!

Didn't the Spanish government wipe out there debt at one point in the past?

Can you imagine if the UK government did that for Man Utd or Liverpool

They are both knee deep in the ****e.

There has been a change in the law to prevent the elected officers of the two clubs( plus Ossosuna and Athletic Bilbao) from being personally liable for club debts, so great are they in the first two cases.

But sympathy for those two should run very shallow. Real Madrid have splurged £500m on a ground project that does not deliver a single extra seat or improved facilities. It is a vanity, shiny wrap around of the Bernabeau. Barca pay one player €100m a year.

They have inhabited a false world which has bent to their will for long enough. This day was coming.

So what's actually happening atm then? Are they scrambling to clear the debt?

I don't know if they can. The article I read said they might have to change their structure, but the money is eye watering. Go knows what they'll do!

I might have a Google see what I can find. It's crazy how football clubs seem to be able to carry so much debt.
