What happens if he gets injured? He’s playing well and would be a miss but we need someone else to start chipping in with goals
It was a good move taing him off and threw their game plan out of the window, but his back heel leading to the goal was a champagne moment, not expecting many like that, but it shows he has it in his locker, he tries to get the ball forward quickly too, something we badly need. so we need to see a bit more of him before making any judgements imo. Diamonds non appearance was the surprise of the night for me, very odd unless its non football related.
Diamond had been relatively poor the last two games he played and he's still only young. A few breaks here and there won't be a bad thing for him
To be honest I have been impressed with Winchester in the small of amount of time I have seen him. He is neat and tidy on the ball, sees the pass early and is good when we are out of possession. He is stepping up in level and coming to a much more experienced dressing room - big fish small pond to bigger fish in bigger pond. He needs time to grow into the environment but you can see he is vocal and takes responsibility on the pitch. If you think we have the likes of Leadbitter and Power who are ageing players and Dobson gone this looks a good signing to me. His yellow last night was his own fault and LJ did well to take him off. But the backheel for the goal opened them up. In time the likes of him and O'Nien could be pretty dynamic in the centre for us, at least in my opinion, and appreciate others see it differently which is fair enough.
He's got a really good first touch. Got a bit of a different style to the other centre mids. Might be able to help us carve a way through the centre of teams.
so have i mate alas my footy is ****e, regarding Winnie too early to tell some good flashes some silly mistakes the jury's out on this one I'm afraid
I agree but the word relatively indicates what I am alluding too. Diamond has lit up the team of late but is left out after one average performance, so I am hoping this is only temporary as he is probably our best wide attacking option at present, and by some distance imo.
Shows how hopeless my memory is. I have long thought Superkevs first game was away at Port Vale because I remember arguing after how he is the only bright spot in a team that would struggle. Right about Superkev, wrong about the team.
your right there clocky watching the team was boring and i was at the stage where i though there are better things i could be doing rather that watching this shower of ****, but the lad made a big contribution when he came in and i could see it pulled the performances of others up as his energy and endeavour were infectious I'm enjoying my football again now
mate i think you misread it he is talking about the first time he saw SKP and what he told his mates, not Diamond anyway thats how i see it
from what ive see of the lad . he has potential weather he can succeed is another topic, he has raw talent that has lifted the team. but first on the team sheet no. Coming on as a sub could cause a lot of teams problems who have tired legs, and also gives us a plan (B) he defiantly needs games to progress. we have lost too many academy players with short-sighted attitudes or a dash for cash instead of looking at the big picture. the Academy is there to produce the talent for tomorrow, unfortunately too many are let go without being given a run in the first team to show what the are capable of ,and then trying to skimp on the pay rather than giving out a package that befits their progress
SKP made his league debut for Sunderland at the SoL 15/8/97 still got the game on tape, previous to that he played his first ever game for Sunderland against Ajax on 30/7/97 in a friendly at the newly opened Stadium , the game was a goalless draw.
Agree mate i think he is too young to put the teams burden on his shoulders, yet cockily confident to show what he can do, lets all agree on one thing we wish him well and hope he can succeed, as there are a lot of academy players now rearing to come through and i would rather have them than the Griggs or Grahams and Rodwells of this world
