Just read on The Sun that Jenson Button has urged Lewis Hamilton to keep the dream team alive as his contract ends at the end of next year. Button said : "Having a competitive team-mate is the most important thing for a driver in a top team because it does push you.

"Having a whole team behind you is great. Knowing they are putting all their efforts just behind you is fantastic.

"I am sure that is how it feels for Fernando Alonso at Ferrari.

"But I think having a team-mate who is quick and will fight to the death is a good thing.

"Some days you think '****, I just couldn't beat him today because he was so quick'.

"But on other days, when you do get the upper hand, it is a great feeling and it keeps working like that. You push each other on. I do want him to re-sign."

I really want them to stay together, they are the strongest partnership on the grid I terms of getting along and speed, but if Hamilton does not get his way we know what he can do, but I think overall he will resign.

He will sign for sure, he won a world championship with Mclaren, they seem to have a great car at the moment which should carry through to next year, jenson and lewis have a great working relationship which helps the development of the car and team spirit. McLaren just need to tighten up the operational side of things but that is what Sam is for next season.

Where would Lewis go to get a better opportunity, the McLaren outfit is the most professional on the grid, It's a no brainer, Lewis will stay, it is his best option, for sure, as they say.

Two WDCs in the same top team, with the addition on Sam, what a prospect !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with those above who suggest Hamilton will re-sign. I am sure he will.

I also wholeheartedly agree with Button (as quoted by Jarel, above) and hope that McLaren are able to continue to hold what is easily the strongest driver pairing. I also hope that Hamilton can regain his composure after what has become a nightmare season for him. He has never been beaten by a team mate but it is beginning to look that way and he is showing signs of looking mentally vulnerable. I do not think he is being managed effectively and if he chooses to go it alone (with regard to driver management), he may continue to be vulnerable.

Just been watching the post qualifying interview with Lewis and I noticed a tone of acceptance and resignation regarding the adverse incident with Webber and Schumacher at the start of the last qualifying lap which may have meant he lost pole.

This is an aspect of Lewis's behaviour which is on an upward trend, which I hope he arrests and reverses pretty bloody quicky, I much prefer the Hamilton of old.

Comon Lewis, ignore the negative and get on with what you do better than anyone, wringing the necks of F1 cars.

However Arsenal could do with a little winger - ours cannot cross the ball.

He would only conisder moving to Red BUll.

I imagine he feels a bit let down my Mclaren in some of their decison making that has happened this year, but then again they may feel let down by some of his driving errors whic have also cost him heavily this year.

His best bet is to stay at McLaren.

I wouldnt suprise me if he went somewhere else, but I hope he stays at Mclaren! Regardless of how good the Mclaren may or may not be, he will always be fighting a losing battle with a competitive team mate against teh likes of Alonso and Vettle who look like they will have the whole team geared towards giving them the best opportunity to win the WDC. I said on a previous post that if either Lewis or Jenson won the title whilst teammates and being competitive, it would be worth more than an a run away WDC with a distant teammate making it easy for you!

So, is it possible that lewis may opt for a clear No 1 statuts in ateam like Merc or Renault in 2013, depending on the Schuey and Kubica status - I think he would fancey the Merc drive with Roseberg, big budget, new design team headed by one of the greats (Brawn) and probably No1 status! Like I said, I hope he stays at Mclaren but feel he needs a change to overcome his issues, unless he has a Button smashing 2012?

The only way I could possibly see Hamilton moving is if he decides to commit career suicide at Red Bull, or if he decides to replace Schumacher at Mercedes - the latter conditional on their producing a WDC-winning car.

So I think he will re-sign, but he will string Mclaren out for as much money as he can get.

I think the Merc 2013 seat will be a hot one and they desperatley want the WDC - I cant see a bigger driver than Lewis available at that time!

If he doesn't get his wish for less PR then he will go to Mercedes in 2013 to replace either Schumi or Nico. Rosberg would jump at the chance to face Jenson in a front runner car.

Nice dig at Ferrari. I think he's a bit upset because a deal didn't work out with Ferrari.

Could you imagine a Brawn+Lewis+Di Resta in the same team, lol that would be one hell of a group at Mercedes with this new technical group coming in also.

I don't think he wanted to go to Ferrari at all.

Sorry I cannot see that happening when Mercedes cannot even produce a podium winning car.

He wanted McLaren to take up his option and extend his contract for an extra year - leaving him options open for 2013. McLaren wanted to sign a multi-year deal to stop him going to Ferrari in 2013.

Even so it could be for other reasons such as Car Performance and Teammate Choice.

Why would Jenson go to Ferrari? I can't see how he would be any better off there than where he is now. He'd be worse off more likely as Alonso has the team built around him. It doesn't make sense. I can understand Jenson wanting to keep his options open but it seems more likely to me that he wanted to hold out for the best possible deal from McLaren.

As for Lewis, he's in no rush to make a decision and will be better off waiting until he needs to decide.
