  1. You're getting me wrong mate. I think Guthrie is a great player, i still remember he got the most assists for us in the CC and set up Colo for that goal vs Spurs.

You don't have to stand up for Guthrie, I'm just frustrated with the amount of times he gets injured.

I know, I was just making a general point. He is quite injury prone, which is a shame as he is quite a player when fit and playing regularly IMO.

Anyway, I think he is the most like-for-like replacement for Cabaye that we have, so he'd be my pick. If Tiote was the one who was injured I'd probably prefer Gosling though.

  3. Guthrie is pretty decent defensive like IMO though. He makes some decent tackles, and has good agility. Yes i know i use that word a lot but he does. He's quicker than Barton and Cabaye.

Guthrie was fantastic in the CC, but what people forget is that whenever he played in the Prem - and I'm pretty sure he got a run of games, he wasn't just Barton/Nolan backup - he was dire, adding little to the side and generally being a poor man's Barton.
I'd much rather see a diamond formation than Guthrie starting next to/in front of Tiote.

  5. I agree Guthrie isn't amazing, but i think he's a little better than just a poor mans Barton.

Guthrie seems to me one of those players who kicks through for 89 minutes then does something glaringly stupid which costs the team. Still early days to be considering the spurs game seen as there's another round of internationals to play. Hopefully Cabaye pulls through but it will be interesting to see how Pardew deals with it. A few holes cropping up now means the squad has a higher chance of additions in January. I think If we carry on this excellent run and only get beaten off the recognised top six teams they can use it as an excuse not to strengthen 'til the summer. Perhaps 'arry's been fashioning voodoo dolls from his melty face this week.

Knew something like that would happen :(

Hope we don't play feckin Guthrie - don't rate him in the Prem like. In the Champ he was class, but he not my cup of tea. Not that we will have much option I don't think

  13. Guthrie's good, he's just injury prone. I;d start him over Gosling.

Yeah I don't think much of Gosling from what I've seen like. I liked Guthrie in Championship, but in Prem I just don't rate him at all

Vuckic played last night. I'd play him over Guthrie. Impressed me from what I've seen - looks a class act

  17. Nah. Vuckic has shown he has the ability to attack, and is a bright spark, but we need someone with a creative ability, and one that will be solid enough in midfield. Vuckic is more of an attacking spark, one that will link up with attacking players, he isn't the type to sit in center mid.

For me, when it comes to Guthrie, I have recurring nightmares about Guthrie kicking the ground to gift WBA that goal last season
