Morning all. Mainly clear up above, just a few wispy clouds. Received a letter from the electricity company yesterday to say that our supply would be interrupted for 4 hours on the 10th February so that they could do some work on the overhead lines. They always let you know when such work is going to happen, but it is so far in advance that by the time it happens you have forgotten about it. Power cuts were frequent twenty years ago, but are a rarity these days and with a decent enough broadband speed we are quite lucky. Have a good day whatever, and three points would be nice. <ok>

Morning all. Bright and breezy here today, but the wind is coming from the south, so not cold. Off very shortly to do the shopping. We have friends coming to dinner Friday, which will be good as we haven't seen them since the summer. Of course dinner is now midday as you cannot be out and about after 6.00 pm. Very little resistance to that measure seems to be reaching me. Have a good day whatever you must do. <ok>

Morning all. Mild but there has been some rain overnight. Neighbour just been round to see if I had the email address for one of our part time residents. I knew I had it somewhere, but was it on an old laptop that no longer works? Had a look on my phone and found that due to the wonders of bluetooth it had transferred itself. Our part time residents didn't make it here for the whole of 2020 and I doubt that we will see them soon. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

Morning all. Dark and wet here this morning. Looking at the pictures from the UK we are glad that we live on top of a hill and don't see flooding. I feel really sorry for those whose homes are ruined at such a time. Flooding is nothing new and can be stopped if the will is there. Schemes to create new flood plains upstream of where regular flooding takes place can work if you are prepared to pay a farmer for the loss of his land, but better to stop diverting water so that you can build on a natural one. You could write a book on water management, but I will not start as I have my summer water problems. Have a good day one and all, and another three points would be helpful. <ok>

Just make sure she doesn't try to put you in a box too - especially the one with the bread knife. upload_2021-1-22_10-44-22.png

Morning all. Wet and windy, so might be scanning the channels to see what football is on. A really good week of wins is a chance to throw off the gloom that surrounds us. The Vendée Globe race continues with little chance of getting too close to anyone else. The leader and second place competitor are forty-two nautical miles apart this morning. Only another 1,500 to go before they return to Sables d'Olonne. Have a good day whatever you are doing. <ok>

Morning all. Well it was bright and frosty earlier this morning, but now it has clouded over and looks as if it might rain again. My friend in Northern Ireland tells me that he has a load of snow descend overnight. Youngest told me last night that she had received the first dose of the vaccine on Thursday, and had a sore arm and felt as if a cold was coming on. She has been doing extra shifts at Oxford to help out as there are so many staff off work. So far the hospital has not seen as many cases as some parts of the country. Have a good day whatever you intend to do. <ok>

Surreal moment... looking out of our window seeing a blind man with his barely visible white cane, with his wife, "walking" their datchund... its underbelly leaving a trail in the snow...
The Chilterns, forming the near horizon, lost in the clouds and snow.

Not surprisingly, we haven't seen our little cottage in the Charente since 2019 - June actually. I expect the mices have made themselves a peaceful home.
We have no idea either when we'll get out here next. I discovered that the Green card is issued for specific travel dates our and back - which is not what we do. Another irritating piece of unnecessary bureaucracy. We miss our neighbours, and all the aspects of French life which make us want to be there. They don't seem to have lost any sovereignty. Bah !

Morning all. A fine start to the day with blue skies and no sign of the frost that I was expecting. We are waiting to see if another harder lockdown is going to be imposed upon us again as the variant Anglais is proving to be a pain in the rear. I really cannot understand how 10,000 people a day are flying into Heathrow when the government says it has control of the borders. According to some figures in the press here, our region has one of the lowest rates of infection in the country, so maybe there will not be a nationwide lockdown, but as they are projecting what the situation might be like in the middle of March, we will have to see. Meanwhile our one part time resident who arrived from England at the end of December is still here and seems quite happy to be here rather than Norfolk. Life carries on even if it is not normal. Have a good safe day everyone. <ok>

Yes I have one that does it. It is quite cheap, but is a slow process. I have done a lot of mine, but doubt that I will ever finish.
