watching For All Mankind atm, alternate history centered on the direction NASA's space program may have gone if the Russians had got to the moon first. Quite good

Would be more realistic if they'd done it on what NASA's space programme would've been like if the Russians hadn't pushed them on with fake stories, because they were nowhere near getting to the moon as they were putting out.

I doubt anything would have changed tbh, the space race was all about national prestige and the moon landing was America's first win. The show is about if they hadn't won that how they would've kept going, rather than the way it went and everyone seeming to give up.

IRL, the Russians are going back, sending their first mission there in almost 50 years, unmanned robotic probe. Now we've found there's ice there it makes a good staging base to Mars, as we have the technology to turn it into fuel and breathable air.

The thing is though that Russia would never have got to the moon before the U.S. Every attempt failed on the launchpad, one rocket after another literally blowing up. They just hid it and put out fake news about how close they were. Nobody realised any of this until it all came out in 1989 after USSR broke apart.

But I'll stfu and give it a watch <laugh>

well that ac/dc doc was great.... even tho not my fav type of music, maybe the greatest band ever? especially in their theme.
