Normally I would hav listened to it on the wireless but I have really lost interest in the National side.
England are a let down as per usual and Rooney has yet again proved to be a complete idiot rather than a national hero figure we all wish he was. If Booby Moore was alive, he'd be more ashamed than anyone at the state of the English national team.
Absolutely right mate although I think you meant ashamed rather than disgraced as Bobby was never that.
Yeah, sorry, I meant ashamed ! Had a late one last night as you can tell! Looks like the England rugby team are taking inspiration from the national football team as well!
well it's pretty easy to see why England are crap Hart - good enough Jones - CB, not RB, not ready for Englang Cahill - Not good enough Terry - On his way out Cole - World Class Walcott - Not good enough Parker - Not good enough Barry - Not good enough Young - Good enough Bent - Not consistent enough Rooney - Rooney How on earth is that team going to compete on a world scale?
They wont compete simple as that. This the weakest England side i've ever known - Even England B teams of old would be able to beat them with ease
I challenge you to pick an 11 that's any better. When you say "not good enough" do you actually mean I expect better from them? If players aren't that good, but they're the best we've got and they put the effort in, we can only accept that and wait for the next generation of players to step up. The jury is out on whether they put the effort in, but the team doesn't work as a unit and it's awfully clunky to watch.
Deary me it's hardly weak! We have a good future... Hart, Richards, Walker, Jones, Smalling, Cahill, Cleverley, Wilshere, Henderson, Adam Johnson, Young, Chamberlain (hate to say it), Welbeck and, whatever you say about Rooney, he's one of the best strikers in the world (the best all-round striker IMO) and at least he shows a bit of passion!! Then there's the likes of Martin Kelly, John Flanagan, Raheem Sterling, JWP, Luke Shaw etc. For example, if we played: Hart Richards, Jones, Smalling, Cole Cleverley, Wilshere Johnson, Rooney, Young Welbeck That's a good team with a lot of potential! We need to use the Germans as an example of having a young, tight-knit team that's going to grow up together. I hope we get Redknapp next year to give the players a bit of confidence and get us playing proper English attacking football. Keep the faith, we'll get there.
Watched the first half, then went channel hopping and found Spain v Czechs. Didn't return to the dross of England till the final whistle was blown. England might have qualified but can't see beyond Spain to win it.
How can you say Parker is no good but Young is? Parker and Cole were the best of the bunch. Soon we could try a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1 like these: Hart, Richards, Smalling, Jones, Cole, Wilshere, Parker, Cleverly Sturridge, Welbeck, Rooney OR Hart, Richards, Smalling, Jones, Cole, Wilshere, Parker, Sturridge, Rooney, Young Welbeck
Sorry RorSFC - Championship Detour must have been posting at the same time, our formation and team selection looks very similar! I just wonder who could captain the side without Terry, as I am not sure Rooney is the right choice!
Well I'm glad I'm not the only one who can see the bigger picture! Forgot about Sturridge, but it just proves how many top players we have with the potential to be world class. Andy Carroll's a class player when fit as well. I could see maybe Phil Jones or Jack Wilshere being potential captains? I think we need to start again and give these youngsters a chance. It's not like they're not playing week in week out now! We just need a bit of belief and pride injected into the players. I know many Saints fans will think differently, but Harry's the man!
The majority of the young German team have played together right from academy level - the majority of the England team have not. It's a team of individuals and a team of mediocre individuals at that. They might be great playing for their clubs against the likes of Wigan and West Brom every weekend but up againts Brazil, Argentina, Spain etc - no chance
I'm not convinced such a young team would solve our problems, but anything is worth trying at the moment. Next season, Saints will be in the PL and Lallana in the England team, which should set things straight!
This. Other's are either looking at things through rose tinted glasses, or too young to remember the last half decent England team.
