It was an amazing result today, truly outstanding but I'm not sure it's the performance of the season. We played as we have in many games this season, only today we took our chances. I thought the Accrington performance was better in all honesty.

I know Portsmouth came into this have not conceded for nearly 10 hours but really it just shows how poor the league is. They're a top side in L1 but there's nothing special about them. I actually don't think they played any worse than they did in the 1st game, at least they had 1 shot on target today! It's obviously a big statement win but we've been threatening that all season.

The lads were great again, hard to pick a MOTM. One thing is pretty clear, Whyte is a huge upgrade on Adelakun and he fits us perfectly. I love his work rate and his raw pace even when not everything comes off.

A really, really good performance all over the pitch. Honeyman was everywhere and Smallwood did what Smallwood does, was rock solid in the middle of the park, as was the Doch.

KLP looks rejuvinated, with a bit of luck he would have had the 2 own goals to his name.

A Jones and Greaves very good again, though I think we were a tad lucky with their goal being chalked off, that decision could have gone either way.

As another poster commented Whyte is a upgrade on Adelekun, he looks a much better all round player. Coyle has really taken his chance, hard to chose between him and Emmanuel at RB.

Can we keep this form up, let's hope so, if we do hard to see anyone getting ahead of us?

Guy Whittington was on the commentary team for Radio Solent yesterday and he made a very telling comment.
He said that we looked and played like a Championship team.
This is a key observation from an experienced player and lower league manager.
The ex Tigers that I have been speaking to are all of the opinion that this team is more than capable of winning the league.
The depth of our squad is fantastic. I know other clubs have taken us apart, but in reality we will lose a few games.

Ok, I’ll bite, hands up, previous Grant doubter here! One of my mine, and others gripes, has been lack of Grant’s Plan B. Well, credit to him, he did it yesterday. His Plan B to make Plan A better certainly worked a treat. Best game of season for me; brilliant overall performance, looked dangerous every time we went forward, everyone playing for each other. Certainly looks a more cohesive squad than less season. The KLP saga resolved seems to have lifted everyone.

Credit where it’s due, Grant has done well overall this season, arguably he has got one of the best squads in this division. After the shambolic last season, I do hope the squad and Grant continue to gel/grow together and if successful in promotion, let’s see how he gets on in the Champ, and prove L1 just isn’t his level. (Cue women are never happy comments!)

Quite interesting reading the mdt from the home fixture a month ago.
that being the case all credit for this victory must go to Ehab and Terry.

Devils advocate.....any manager with half a backbone would have told the owner to GTF and played KLP over the past month and a half and we'd be a fair few points better off.......equally you could ask why it has taken so long to start KLP up front this season

    I'm still a McCann doubter.
He changed from 4 3 3 to 4 2 3 1 many weeks ago. Months too late to make a formation change.
He's now changed from having a lump at No 9 to having a front 3 with real movement and threat that is causing defences all sorts of problems. This change has been forced on him (due to Eaves being injured and Magennis struggling for form). It's made all the difference, and Whyte has slotted in perfectly (no over elaboration or greed, just doing wide right role really well). And Honeyman back where he should be.
However, credit where it's due in that yesterday was a superb performance from 1 to 11 (or is it 49 nowadays), on the back of a good performance the previous game. Long may it continue.
Do I think McCann is now a good manager? No. And, it's not a case of proving me / us wrong - he's been abysmal, but now we have promising signs of him starting to get it right. I hope that in say 18 months or so time we're doing well back in the Championship and saying that yep, he's learnt and is now clearly a good manager. TWT.
Edit: some credit to Darnborough too I guess!
