The bulbs gone in your hall, Den. If you're missing that whiskey glass that you got free with that decent bottle of single malt a few years ago, it might have smashed when dropped on the kitchen floor. But it's all in the bin now so don't worry about cutting your feet. The Hoover's not working properly but the bag probably just needs emptying. The sound bar seems to have disconnected from the telly. (You probably just need to turn everything off and on again to be honest). I think that the cat from a few doors down shat on the lawn... Ummm... The bed sheets might need changing... Oh, the football? We won four nowt. Looked strong all over the field. Happy days.
I was, as usual on a Saturday, at work today so couldn’t watch the game, but I told all the lads first thing this morning that I had a feeling, after our performance on Tuesday night, that I thought we were going to smash Pompey, predicting 0 - 3. I told my lad, again after watching the game on Tuesday, that I honestly felt, with the recent additions and having KLP back in the fold, that we’d now go on to win the league title. I also said that if we won today it would be a springboard to promotion, in a similar way to our 0 - 3 win at The Hawthorns was a few years ago. There’s a long way to go but, with the depth of quality we now have in our squad, I honestly feel that we’re in a fantastic position, and after the last twenty games of last season I have to say a huge well done to all concerned at the club for such an impressive turnaround.
I was including you in that category, which is why I said you would probably know her. Maybe I should have said older aged fans who have been going to games for a long time...To separate between young fans who couldn't have gone a long time and oldies who could but didn't back then.
Think the last time will have been 1965/1966 season. At the end of the season for definite and probably at the same stage of the season.
No mate, I'm sorry but I misread your post as I wouldn't know her as she's been going a long time. My Bad Turns out Sue is indeed the lass you and Urika were alluding to and I know her very well, in fact she's family. It's a small world but I wouldn't want to paint it
Yep, +47 @ final whistle, compared to Millwall's + 33. Had the situation been that we (1st) and Millwall (2nd) were equal on points in the final table, they would have been champs as it would have been determined by (goals for/goals against) ratio - known ( inaccurately) as "goal average" in those days. Millwall 1.767, City 1.758). There but for fortune. Edit: Corrected for blunder pointed out by Oregon Tiger in post 416 below.
Yes goal average was a funny thing. Cost us promotion to the old Division One back in the mists of time. You wonder how different our history might have been if we had gone up century or so ago.
Goal average was calculated on goals scored divided by goals conceded rather than the home/away. The numbers are right, however. City 109/62 = 1.758 Millwall 76/43 = 1.767 In 1909/10 we wouldn't have gone up on goal difference either (Oldham's was +40, ours was +34). In 1983/1984 it worked the other way. Sheffield Utd finished 3rd on goal difference, we were 4th. If goal average had been used, we would have gone up.
And just for the record, Sue Cr, thats me, and Im not a character I am a person, Worked in the boardroom at BP and yes was always in the tunnel, a vantage point to watch part of the game before sorting out the changing rooms ready for half time/full time and board room. I am a life long supporter. have NEVER asked anyone if there is a stream for a game for myself, maybe have for others less fortunate but generally I couldnt care less about streams as I still pay my membership, get my home games free via ifollow and pay the tenner for away games so please get your facts right. I dont stream games, in fact I have bought ifollow passes for folk that cant afford two games a week and will continue to do so in these trying times.
