He's currently heavily involved in some high(ISH) rise property development in Liverpool and now also Birmingham, so will obviously wants to stay with easy access. But he's not really been inundated with offers either
Who said lichaj, Jackson and stewart would all find championship clubs......you know who you are Although I did think stewart would
Irvine and Lichaj were a waste of a shirt towards the end of last season. Coyle, Emmanuel, Docherty and Honeyman are all miles better. I'd even go as far to say Smallwood is an improvement over Lopes, perhaps not as talented or technically gifted, but a solid improvement in terms of work-rate and dedication. There was a lot of driftwood that I'm glad to see the back of. I actually think our current squad would've stayed up last season in the same situation.
NCR but I've heard former Ferriby striker Tom Denton is being looked at by Port Vale. I've still got his shirt from the FA Trophy semi-final somewhere, he is a top bloke and it's good to see he's now a professional AND scoring **** loads of goals for Chesterfield.
Ozil signs a 3.5 year deal with Fenerbahce. Fenerbahce currently reportedly £450m in debt then sent text messages to all their supporters asking them for donations to help fund his contract. The game is ****ed.
Whilst I don’t think Lichaj is the best RB we’ve ever had, I honestly don’t think we’d have gone down if he played the remainder of the season. We were crying out for an experienced head, particularly in defence. I’m particularly thinking of the Birmingham game, when they pulled apart whoever was playing at RB to get back into the game. If Lichaj was there I think we’d have won that.
Our current squad is infinitely better than last year's (obvs minus Bowen/Grosicki). When everyone slaughters McCann they always seem to forget how awful the squad he inherited was (Adkins has to take some blame for that too). Batty played a bigger role for us in the Championship than he has in L1, that says an awful lot.
If we do bring someone in, I'd really like it to be Josh Sims. Done great at Donny and his deal is up in the summer, they're trying to take him back on loan (not clue why not permanently) but he'd be some addition. I know people are raving about Donny at present but they've lost Sims, Whiteman and TJJ to injury this window. They're looking to bring in some reinforcements but at present, they're looking significantly weaker. Signing Bostock is a weird one too
Terry fully deserves to get slaughtered for the second half of last season irrespective of the players he had which were certainly good enough to keep us in The Championship, we were consistently abysmal
The players need to take a hell of a lot of the blame as well. They pretty much downed tools and gave up.
Whilst I don't disagree with the comment Howden, isn't it relevant to ask the question "why" and what might have influenced individuals if they did as you suggest.
