At Sensible's command I hereby start the thread for this Fourth Round Emirates FA Cup match. Firstly, the viewing arrangements: https://www.pafc.co.uk/news/2021/january/faqs-sheffield-united-vs-argyle/ Secondly, although they didn't field a very weakened team in their Third Round game at Bristol Rovers, which they scraped though by the old goal in 5, the Blades are in an increasingly perilous position in the lucrative Premier League and I can't believe they will put out their full side against us. Therefore I've predicted we'll win it. Kiss of death there then.
Press the red button on your TV remote on probably channel 991 (virgin). Or go on your computer and choose the BBC site iPlayer and choose the Argyle game. I think. If you have a smart tv then you may have it on the thing already and can download the App. I think.
Sensible is right. If you have a smart TV, you need to connect it to your WiFi, then install the iPlayer app. You need to register on iPlayer before you can access the programming. It's worth doing even without the football as you can watch loads of BBC stuff you may have missed previously. The same process applies to ITV, Channel 4 and 5 catch up services.
My TV isn't a smart version.....although I have a red button facility I have no internet link-up. So I've checked iplayer on my computer and their is at present no sign of any match selection. The BBC are showing today Cheltenham v Man C....and tomorrow...Chelsea v Luton and also later Man U v Liverpool. I'll look nearer kick-off time to see if Iplayer are giving any match options.
Well, there's helpful boyo. Two page splash on the Fourth Round ties in the Times Sports section today. Centre panel is Sheffield United V Us. Picture is: Luke Jephcott and a table showing his goals per minute played stats in comparison with other strikers. Doesn't actually give his agent's phone number at least.
BIG NEWS. VAR will be in operation for this game. Make sure you know where the Valium and blood pressure tablets are before tuning in.
Also the Daily Telegraph Sport have an article about Frank Nouble and his career and the uncertainty of playing in the lower leagues....after a successful season with Colchester....then Covid had them laying players off....Frank among them.
Cooper, Watts, Opoku, Aimson, Fornah, Edwards, Grant, Mayor, Camara, Jephcott, Hardie. Subs McCormick, Wootton, Nouble, Telford, Reeves, Moore, Law, Pursall, Mitchell.
I'm not sure what commentary we might get but Chris Errington has Tweeted to say he has turned back enroute to Sheffield due to snow.
1-0....Basham...39 minutes.....H/T Playing okay.....Camara misses an open goal which would have put Argyle in front.....Sheffield do look vulnerable at the back.....keeper looks dodgy.
2-1...Basham...39 minutes...Sharp...47 minutes.....Camara...75 minutes. Did not have enough to win this...but played quite well.....just couldn't get enough ball to work with. Possible penalty for Argyle in the 90th minute...when a defender headed clear by jumping above the Argyle player by pushing down on his shoulders.
We can hold our heads up: by no means disgraced against a Premier League side, wherever they are in the table. 《RANT ON》 I'm going to make myself unpopular though. Camara. A professional player can't be judged solely on what he does well. Camara has missed a chance Amy of us would probably have scored at his age. Then, he's broken out of our defensive third with the ball but played an awful forward ball which goes straight to one of theirs. They break through a defence who were expecting to go forward not back and we're 2-0 down. Then he scores. Then late in the 2nd half, he gets the ball in free space on the left of their penalty area and instead of making a chance for 2-2, effectively passes back to their keeper. I make that a minus 2 on key moments, good or bad. Some are making him MotM and he does catch the eye at times but his delivery when it counts is woeful. 《RANT OFF》
Are you sure about all of that notdistant? No it's ok say what you think....................It's why he's in league one and not much higher up. There is always going to be the bollux up moments with him but you have to admit he both puts in a shift and often creates as well. I'm not disappointed today despite a loss. I thought we were a credit to league one and the style and football we played was excellent in the most part. The coolness at the back when passing the ball out today was there for all to see and we did not look 2 leagues below Sheffield. The players were cool but I'm never the same as that when I'm watching. Thought our Defence was good including Cooper. He pulled off some very good stops and looked more assured than their keeper did for most of the game. Midfield played their part and the forwards ran their guts out. Some of the moves were really really good and if Man City did it the pundits would be purring. The move leading up to Camara missing was brilliant to watch. If that goes in then it is a candidate for goal of the tournament so far. Not to be so we move on. Realistically I don't think any of us truly expected to beat Sheffield today despite the prediction scores. All I wanted was for us not to get a complete dicking and for us to play well. That happened so am content.
Thanks for your comments Sensible. I didn't watch the game or hear it, in fact i slept through it. I listened to Lowe's comments, nice to hear the Lads played not too bad. Looking forward to seeing them play at Swindon on Tuesday. Keep safe.
Just reading the report in the newspaper, consisting mainly of comments regarding Sheffield United's Premier League situation. One nugget that's worth repeating though is that Brewer, who did not a lot as I recall, cost United £23.5m. Puts it in context....
But that's peanuts in the EPL! I see Guardiola is saying the number of teams in the Premier League should be reduced, no doubt to accommodate a European Super League. FIFA and EUFA are saying any player who takes part in an unsanctioned league will not be allowed to appear in World Cups or Euro Championships. It's not their countries that pay the massive salaries is it though?
