Come on Tom, don’t hold it in, tell us what you really think!

Seriously, I agree, an £800 fine, even if they all get one, seems completely inadequate for such a flagrant flouting of the rules. If that event proves to be a super spreader, imagine the cost in human misery, never mind the effect on the overstretched NHS.

Errrr - you don’t think that one of the reasons no one wants to hold China accountable is the fact that China holds most of the debt of the first world and if you piss them off, they may well ask for their money back?
I agree with you though - the whole animal trade, wet markets, etc in China is a disgrace and, almost certainly, the cause of many strains of species-hopping viruses. I recently did a course (online) on animal conservation and the whole China/Asia wet market trade was discussed. It’s absolutely appalling and driven, not by “quaint old fashioned ideals” as a lot of people will have you believe, but by greed, corruption and the status symbol of having parts of an exotic or rare animal to show off to your friends and colleagues. Quite made me incandescent with anger ....

    There in lies the problem.
As soon as the police arrived they should have blocked all exits and issued penalties to every single one of the attendees.
Back in March/April last year, I was posting how in Spain €1000 fines were being issued and the general response seemed to be that it was a bit excessive. (That’s not aimed at you just my observation at the time)
Maybe if we had followed the same route, and also hammered the high profile rule breakers, instead of excusing them, we might not have so many idiots breaking the rules now.
Although I would still say that in spite of this it is still just a minority breaking the rules.

Well it's all gone tits up with the EU regarding vaccines. Supply has been cut by 60% and they haven't approved the Oxford one. Bravo EU. UK are miles ahead. Glad we didn't need to wait for the EU to get their act together.

This is a really touching story which illustrates that those brilliant people in the NHS are not just there to heal us. They often go way beyond just administering the very best of medical care and comfort. With all the pressure the doctors and nurses are under these days they still find time for acts of incredible thoughtfulness and generosity. I never cease to be amazed at how far the kind and dedicated souls in the NHS can reach into our lives and make the seemingly impossible happen .....

There are those however who would wish to destroy it so we must always be vigilant and as the slogan says "Protect OUR NHS".

This post made my day yesterday!

I have always thought that if Vardy would be any animal, it would be a weasel.

You appear to see it as a form of competition, compare the death rates between, say, Germany and U.K. It's not "Bravo" anyone.

What, like the people who were doing that when the UK were struggling more than others? Didn't choose to point that out then I notice.
