Hospitals and the staff and patients in them are having a really tough time atm... A mate of mine is a 'gas' man ie anesthetist, and before the golf course closed down was playing lots. This was because ICUs were full and if a patient had an operation they needed an ICU bed afterwards, there were not any! My mate and surgeons are obviously mucking in and helping with Covid19, but a good physician are what are needed. They and specialist nurses are in great demand and are knackered, and saddened by the number of deaths and manner of death, the isolation of the patient. Its not a loved one of the patient that is with them/holding their hand when they die, but hospital staff.. it takes a toll! A general point is that it has become normal that year after year hospitals have a tough time during wintertime...Covid19 just makes it a lot worse! I guess hospitals have not (ever) been resourced for peak usage...perhaps they should be?
Starmer (?) said to bozzo you've got 4 weeks to sort out track and trace during the Nov Dec 4 week Lockdown, but never followed up on this fiasco and mismanagement. Schools also recommending they don't reopen until we have a working track and trace system, notice that's gone quiet as well. Labour need to step up to the plate and challenge and check the government more. Also sunak (?) has said he'll come back with more plans Mid-march, business needs to know what's going on well in advance of this and not left in the dark.
I agree with everything you say, there are many failures but my original point was at the beginning of all this nobody truly knew how to deal with it, it was very much trial & error, Boris was never coming out of it with any credit but I firmly believe nobody else would have either.
Jacinda did. Amazing what a bit of common sense, decisiveness and clear messaging can do https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.com/news/amp/world-asia-53274085
I honestly don't think anyone could have made a worse job of things than BoJo! What was a difficult thing to manage at the outset was fear of crashing the economy overcoming medical orthodoxy which would say shut everything down. BoJo had to be publically bullied into a lockdown by Imperial College's dire projection of fatalities and that meant either he was overriding his medical advisors or that he had cowed them into saying what was possible whilst still keeping things moving as he wanted. Sort of rendering the epidemiological advice worthless. I suspect there are few in the Tory party who would have done things better, but I think I would have to say Theresa May, but then you would have had bigger problems on the Brexit side of things. Other than that I can't really make any other suggestion from any of the parties at Westminster. Basically we were in a ****ty place leadership-wise, with luck perhaps only on the treasury side. When we needed a Thatcher we got a Trump. Instead of someone who would listen to specialists working in the field, we got someone who believed in politics and politicians.
Agreed. It doesn't matter what policy anybody would have put forward, our public wouldn't have listened and done their own things regardless. Too many people don't believe the virus is real.
Covid: 400-person wedding party in Stamford Hill broken up by police - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-55764673 400 Jewish people in a school, from where a rabbi died of covid last year.
The fines are a joke. Anyone who knowingly turns up to a 400 person event and sticks around should be getting a hefty fine. Anything else is weak.
They fled the scene at 9.15 at night... If there's any follow up I can see the race card being waived
I'd make them low priority as you would with a liver transplant candidate who continues to abuse alcohol, but I don’t think I'd go as far as to deny them assistance full stop.
A global reset by world leaders using this 'plandemic' to inject us with microchips, to look to bring in a one world currency and loads of other looney ****e like that.
It’s not that people don’t believe it’s real. They do. It’s just that they don’t want to do anything to reduce the risk as it impacts on their lifestyle.
Main enjoyment at social gatherings is alcohol, I have said it before we need to stop selling it for a period of time, no heads up so people go and stockpile just ban it on the spot for say 3-4 weeks. It wouldnt stop all the idiots gathering but it would stop quite a lot. It would kill me not having a drink for that long but it would be a sacrifice I would have to make.
The trouble is mate you are thinking of normal people not people like these. I used to have mates when I was young that as soon as the news come on the tv they would switch to another channel they honestly don’t watch the news I’ve heard them say switch over don’t want to watch this rubbish I was explaining to my wife years ago about the government push to stop eating crap food with all their adverts on the news they don’t realise they don’t watch the news.
