I was hoping the club kept them, so when ashley ****ed off we could put the proper sign back up.

Disappointed they've not been kept by the club to put back up again in the future.
BTW, how old are these letters now - does anyone hot on toon history recall when
they first went up? A real shame they're being broken up as a set although I suppose
not many people could afford to but the lot or have anywhere to display them
    - the best place is where they came from in the first place!

Wonder if Shearer could adopt them? Or maybe ANT and DEC?

At least they weren't skipped and buried in landfill I suppose but this is a classic example
of 'fixing' something that wasn't broken in the first place.

These could go for really strong money - seen some of the finished items sold by the foundation?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/180678816550 for £111 and who bid for a Xisco or Perch top?
    Nobody going to own up...

Will watch seller's items for sale with much sadness and some uneasy interest. :-(

The charity is the Newcastle United Foundation, which I think is just the youth team. Thats what memership money goes to. Ashley just turned the youth team into a charity so he didn't have to pay for it anymore.

I'd rather they kept them all together and donated them to the Football Museum or something, somewhere where they can be appreciated.

    96. They're not exactly the national trust protected status relics that we're making out. Even I can remember a time before them.

Someone should just bid £1,000,000,000 on them all. They won't get sold then.
