Glenamoy Lad 5/1 - Newcastle 19.00 After leaving Michael Wigham, he has yet to win for Jennie Candlish but one feels that with his best pieces of form coming at Newcastle, he was maybe being laid out for a race here, she gave him a few spins at Wolverhampton, which has helped his mark slide down to 67, an incredible 30lbs below his highest rating of 97. Pearl Of Qatar and Lucky Lodge will hopefully push on and make a good pace up top, Glenamoy Lad should be held up and if he is ready to roll, I can see him coming there smoothly enough to pick up the race into the final furlong, hopefully there is market support for him before the race and if he is to ever win a race again, you feel this is the time and place, back at his favourite venue. Have a good one folks.
Ready and Able in the 2.10 Ludlow. On a good mark could appreciate return to chasing. No ground worries and talented Kevin Brogan takes off valuable 5 lb.
David Mullins announced his retirement from race riding yesterday as well, his most famous win being aboard Rule The World in the 2016 GN. He also rode a good few Graded winners for his Unlce Willie. Only in his mid 20's. I think he is planning on going into the sales aspect of racing now. All the best to him.
Agree completely, wish him all the best. However, this is a microcosm of racing, we've seen it before with Willie Twiston-Davies and many others, families giving themselves the best opportunities. Racing isn't an open shop, and with that the children of trainers are given opportunities without having to graft as much as others, and when they do want to move on to other things, they get those opportunities too. The other side of that is the expectations on them, it must be very difficult when you are expected to follow the family route.
Yeah, it is much easier for them to jump from one job to the other if they are no longer feeling what they are currently doing. David, for instance could go buying and selling now, in 5 years he could easily start training, and have the facilities and contacts to get going very quickly. It can dampen the spirit of those who are very passionate all their lives about racing but just can't seem to get the same opportunities, barely scraping by, purely as it's a labour of love. That cycle of nepotism is something the racing world will always be associated with.
Ludlow 15,40 If I am not mistaken it's the first Hunters' Chase of the season in the UK after the ban on amateur jockeys and also because this year have drastically changed the rules for qualifying for the Festival. We are going to see a lot more horses trying to enter by March and with professional jockeys. Obviously today's race is all about Hazell Hill. A 2019 winner at the Festival, he didn't run last year due to injury, and this season he made his debut in early December in a PTP. Surprisingly, and despite coming out with 1/3 odds he was beaten by a mare (Highway Jewel) by 25 lengths. That mare was tipped by me 40/1 for Festival in the Ante-Post Bets thread here The point is that today Hazel Hill is expected to be fit and, if so, he should win very easily as his price indicates. I, just in case, and because with that odds you can not play him, I'm going to stay with Ravished, who has won three of his last five PTP and has Sam Twiston-Davies riding him. Maybe the ground is a bit heavy for him but if Hazel Hill doesn't win too easily he should fight for the win. Ravished 13/2 e/w (4 places PP and Betfair, 3 others)
Absolutely septic. The horse drifted all day and then again at the off which gave me all the information I needed, I thought about cahsing out during the day for a small loss but let it run in the end. You would really have to worry about the horses enthusiasm for racing after that, racing off such a low mark and showing very little. Would a tongue tie make that much difference, I'm not sure. Another one off the list for good unless it runs at a huge price maybe.
After getting robbed by the Police in Kenya a 6 team acca football bet i didnt put on won and a tip i got today won 9/2 i didnt back. Hey-ho I guess some people are having a lot worse luck at present.
Just out of interest mal , what does quarantine entail, are you left to just do the right thing? Seems really slack here compared to aussie and kiwi for example where you stay in a supervised room in a hotel .......
I have no idea Rudey what it entails as I have not bothered to check. I live on my own and never have visitors so no problem there. The only places I go to are the gym and local coffee shop of which are both closed. I go the supermarket to get my essentials which I have to do.
