So I’m out. It used to be a fun place, some robust debates but views delivered with a sense of humour. No longer. It used to be that visitors alliowed in had to have a sense of humour. No longer. But when the only reason I come here are for a few insights from someone with contacts within Lufc that tells me I ain’t going to miss it.
Didn’t see this one coming, I’m assuming it was heated in the politics thread? I like 2020 so I hope he comes back, not seen Eire for a while either
Not so much heated more like a pack of rabid dogs devouring their prey. Make of it what you will but not pleasant in my opinion.
Don't know what happened but if it's politics then I'd just stay off that bit and stay on the football bits. I never understand why people get so frustrated at other posters. I just skip past them.
So this is a Leeds United chat room. We all have opinions on the our club, some differ from each others. Now in the seven years I've been here there have been thousands of debates about about finances, owners, managers, tactics players and hell, even pie deals. In all those debates, except a few when Glory was about, there was never the name calling or abuse between posters. But then politics was allowed to be debated on here, our football forum, and that changed. Now we are losing posters because of abuse. Both sides are at fault as there are people who cannot have reasonable debate about anything to do with politics. That is not just a 606 problem but a problem in society. There is just so much anger whether it is brexit, tory/labour, left right or Trump/Biden. Too many peoples go to argument is abuse. Maybe, just maybe the answer is to remove politics from this forum? This is a football forum. We are here to talk football and more importantly Leeds United. We may not all agree on football but I've never been abused for my opinion on Stuart Dalla's best position.
I know some disagree with having the politics/divisive thread but we’ve left it as it’s the one place where people can let off steam in regards to politics, religion and anything likely to cause an argument. I think if it’s distasteful to anyone it’s a place best not to be ventured into. I thought Davy left as he wasn’t happy with brb kicking Glory? I could be wrong? LL was also kicked for racism. There will be members that say some others sail too close to the wind and should be quietened. Those that don’t feel there is anything wrong in what they say will feel those opposing them are being snowflakes. I feel the comments to 2020 were over the top and I’ve said so in there. I’ve received a reply and there seems there has been a bit of “giving it out” as well as taking it. We all have our lines that we don’t like crossing, for some those lines are miles apart. Like Emu has said, just don’t go on that thread if you’re going to get offended and if you do have an urge to get your political point across try not to make it personal if others disagree. For some strange reason there seems to be an element of “it’s childish” to use the report button. Just click it if a post over steps the mark or send one of us a PM and discuss the issue. But I’ll say it again, don’t go in the politics thread if easily offended and some of the stuff posted in there would be pulled up quicker if it spilled over into any of the main football topics.
I see where you are coming from but with Brexit and Politics in general both here and with the election of Trump, non football topics that were causing some serious heated debate were spilling over into almost every thread. I honestly see both sides and trying to wear a sensible hat I think leave the thread in place and urge members not to go in there unless they have a hard hat on. I try not to get involved in too much banter myself as I find it hard to distinguish when it’s not banter and it’s too personal.
Pretty much as I see it. Don't do politics, any forum I've been on, it's always the political threads that are the abusive ones, that also spills over to threads about such things as Corona virus and anything that can be turned into a political debate. If we disagree on a particular player for instance we have our say and move on but it's difficult with politics as everyone wants the last word. The biggest problem then is, the personality clashes spill over onto other threads not related to politics. Would rather Dallas in goal, than the clown.
So you mean...if someone thinks you're a left/right wing retard twat then they're not likely to take you seriously when arguing that Phillips is crap, or Alioski is the best left back at the club ? Think you might be onto something there Gessa
I had a look in the politics thread once, and that was more than enough. I won't be going back in there, and I actually like politics.
Politics/religion people will never agree on either let's be honest everybody has their opinions on both but the thread heading "you've allowed moron's to take over" isn't that possible it's going to rile people into making an inflammatory reply?
I would disagree. If you dare have an opinion about Leeds Utd on Twatter or FB, the abuse that you get from fellow whites supporters is unreal.
