Hong Kong [Happy Valley] 11.15am-Aerosonic Each Way @ 40-1 [William Hill]...4 places First run but from a top stable
Nicky Henderson introduces Getaway gelding Gallyhill (who cost a whopping £450,000), winner of his sole point start at Kirkistown, in the opener at Newbury. That is serious money for a gelding and he is 10/11 with Bet 365 to make a winning debut. His main rival in the market is Emma Lavelle's Hoi Poloi (a snip at €120,000) who beat Henderson's Diamond River in a Kempton bumper before showing greenness when being outpointed by a Gordon Elliot runner at Hereford on hurdles debut. The pair should have it between them.
why would anyone pay that for a gelding, surely either the horse is some freak that will win loads of G1 races or some money laundering going on , nothing else makes sense !
Iron Port 16.20 Chepstow interesting jockey booking S Bowen (he has a 37% Strike rate for the stable) Sky bet paying 5places at 33/1 seems a decent E/W
why though , you’re never going to see the investment repaid ? would you pay sixty pounds for an ice cream ? however if you want to clean some money , or get rid of some excess laundry why not spend silly on a horse .......got to spend it on something ! We are the money laundering centre of the world
The owner is a financial investment specialist. On the ice cream, many would pay 60 quid if they could Instagram it!!
what the heck is a financial investment specialist? someone who advises others where to place money ? he seems to have minus assets yet can splash 450000 on a gelding ........
Newbury 14,30 Gowel Road 10/3 Many non runners, including Heart Of A Lion, so it is a very open race. Gowel Road makes his handicap debut, and despite carrying the maximum weight I think he can go well. 15,35 Ouro Branco 4/1 Up in Trip and Class, and again many non runners. Easy win LTO on Boxing Day, 2nd and 3rd winning since. Form yard is a concern.
Pretty sure there will be a tax aspect to it. Got back 3679 quid from today’s victory, he might even have lumped a monkey on the nose.
Ouro Branco travelled well through the whole race and looked the winner for 85% of it but ***an relished it out there and came there to win well enough, good effort all the same Pilgrim.
A few selections for this evening for me, put the feet up now after dinner and watch the racing and matches all going well. Young John 11/4 - Southwell 5.30, missed the bigger price and debated if I should leave him alone then, but I think he can win again with Pearson's claim and confidence to help. Cold Harbour 7/2 - Southwell 6.00, seems to be coming to the boil again and is on a winning mark, Pearson once again takes this ride. Was comprehensively beaten by a Johnston horse lto, Contingency Fee, who was 3rd that day has since came out and won too so here's hoping this leads to Cold Harbour finally getting his nostrils in front. Rita Levi 33/1 e/w - Dundalk 4.45, ran well lto and has been running average enough mostly to date. Upped to 10 furlongs, a marked step up in trip, could potentially see magic hands John McConnell's filly find that improvement once more to win at Dundalk.
Honestly, as the race was going, I also believed that he was going to win. Thanks. Waiting Dundalk 17,15. I have a smal bet only for fun on Alhajjaj 16/1 e/w. Manning rides.
