Members of a certain protected community have been doing scams like this on old people in my area. A couple of members of the same extended family are currently in jail and one is out on a tag.

People like this are as despicable as they come.

Covid-19: Protect us from unlawful killing charges - medics

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-55689388

The Government had better provide a cast-iron guarantee of this.
Making medical decisions on treatment priority if resources come up short of need should never be considered unlawful killing.
The entire notion of that is disgusting.
Any attempt to take such cases to court would be the grossest violation of our judicial system.

That this possibility is even being discussed is a measure of how grave the situation is in the NHS.
Our hospitals CANNOT be allowed to become overwhelmed.

The Government should conscript any resources neccesary to make sure it does not.
Including all private hospitals and their staff.
Not necessarily for front-line work themselves, but to relieve other pressures the NHS is under and allow them to concentrate maximum effort on the awful task of the next few weeks.

This is a national emergency in all but name.
It may be only a matter of time before it is officially declared as such.

Apparantly the "socially disadvantaged" and poorer communities need to be a priority.
You can see mass queue jumping being an issue.

    Who has said that?

There is no way the vaccine should be given out to different groups using social strata as a factor.
    • Infirmity (underlying medical conditions)
    • Old folk
    • Care home residents
    • Hospital & care home staff
    • Other high risk key workers (police, public transport staff, teachers etc.)
    • Anyone who cannot work from home
These groups should have priority of some kind.
But not entire areas or regions or communities based on economic or social or cultural factors.

Nobody should have grounds to say they are not receiving the vaccine because of the colour of their skin, their religion or how much money they earn.
Political correctness and Woke values will undermine trust and create huge social tensions.
And gift popularity to racists who feed off inequalities like this.

Is there a lockdown on? You wouldn't think so the roads are all busy, including country lanes, round ere, a juggernaut of joggers (that is the official collective noun) on narrow paths pushing past you and hardly a face covering in sight.

What's the noun for a group of professional tennis players...

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/tennis/55702358

    A Diva of players perhaps?
That one could be for the ladies I guess - though I can think of other ones <smooch>

    A Strop of players?
    A Tantrum of players.
    A Curse of players...

I read in the Currant Bun this morning that George Osbourne (remember him?) says Government Ministers should get the vaccine now, because they are doing vital work to fight the Pandemic.

    Typical arrogance.
Policemen, bus drivers, supermarket workers* and teachers won't get their vaccinations for months yet, and they are all on the real front line against this disease - having to deal face-to-face with infectious and often reckless members of the public.
Not pen pushing and enjoying rather good lunches at the Club.

No well-heeled MP should get a vaccine before all these people get it (unless the MP in question belongs to one of the priority groups for reasons other than their career).

They should get the jab now, not have to wait behind people like me, who will probably get the jab soon. being over 70. The figures for policemen being spat at is shocking and disgusting, whereas I am quite safe here with the missus and my cat.

Just to add suermarket workers to that list - everyone needs their food, and the supermarkets can be crushingly busy at times, yet only now are they insisting on wearing masks inside.
