So this Wednesday we welcome Brizzle to the fortress, albeit with a bizarre kick off time. We beat them quite comfortably earlier in the season, a 1 - 3 reverse with 2 for Teemu and 1 from Emi. Nahki Wells is their top scorer with 5 - and a certain Waveney valley one time bad boy will be hoping to get one over on his former employers, too. Team news to follow.
Dangerous team. I don’t think the earlier result guarantees anything - they’ve been getting good results recently.
We don't! But I really don't think we should be getting complacent. We are probably safe on that front as we have had hardly any games where we have won comfortably. But I am always nervous that complacency might kick in. And there is quite the chasing pack still within touching distance...
Confidence is not complacency. Never underestimate your opposition, but never fear anyone. We are top, because we are the best team Listen to comments on Quest and they all agree on our ability. No game this season have I felt we have been 2nd best, especially at home
Really bad news that Pukki is out. In the reverse fixture, he and Buendia tore Bristol City apart. Bristol seem to play the kind of open game that suits them and gives them space to operate. Noticeable that Emi didn't have his best game last time against Cardiff. He and Pukki have such a great understanding, and Emi thrives on the intelligent runs that Pukki makes. He's much less effective in my opinion when he doesn't have a player like Pukki upfront making those runs. I don't want to rubbish Hugill, but he is not that kind of player. I guess we bought him as part of a Plan B that included Placheta banging in crosses but so far, due to injury, that hasn't worked out too well. For once in my life I was confident about this game. Much less so now.
Hugill's hold up play was decent against Cardiff, and hopefully Quintilla is back and can cross for him more. Hopefully Hugill can get Buendia and Cantwell onto the ball in more advanced positions, and let them do the damage. It's different from Pukki, but hopefully they've had time to work on it. Placheta is an interesting shout, both for crossing and his ability to make Pukki-like runs (in Poland at least). Cantwell and Buendia are too good to bench right now though. Presumably Vrancic continues at 10, feels like that's the only position we haven't got a settled first choice yet. I wonder if McLean gets a go when Rupp is fit, but wouldn't want to move McLean in his current form.
Norwich City boss Daniel Farke gave his pre-match press conference earlier this afternoon ahead of the Yellows’ clash with Bristol City tomorrow night. Farke has offered some positive news in terms of a handful of key names. Quoted by the club’s official website, Farke revealed Tim Krul should be back after an isolation period whilst the likes of Lukas Rupp and Josh Martin have also been back training. On the other hand, though, Christoph Zimmermann is set to miss tomorrow’s game – though he should be fit for the weekend and forward Teemu Pukki is out for the next two matches at least, with Farke eyeing the Middlesbrough clash at the end of the month as a potential return date. https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/n...-offers-mixed-team-news-concerning-key-faces/
Surprised that quite a few posters still do not rate Mario as our 1st choice No 10. He was superb on Sat against Cardiff and his long passing is a joy to watch
Good to have Krul, Rupp and Martin back. The same lineup as Cardiff, I guess, except for Krul, with Barden coming back in the cup.
Hi Guys I'd take a draw from this one. We have picked up points, it's true - and beat Portsmouth in the FA cup, but our performances have been far from convincing - nicking goals against the run of play. Probably our win vs Preston last weekend was the most comfortable of recent games because they only managed one shot on target, but even that seemed more because of Preston's inadequacies rather than our brilliance. Really glad that Pukki isn't going to be playing - he's a menace. Good luck after this weekend
