Love Langkawi. Been a couple of times and stayed at the Meritus Pelangi. Mrs O and i are tossing up between Langkawi or Koh Samui when international travel opens back up.

The world should turn on China and punish these bastards. It won't happen, though <grr>

Wuhan medics undercover: 'We were told to lie about Covid-19 outbreak' | ITV News

Chinese medics have been filmed undercover for the first time admitting they realised coronavirus could be transmitted between humans but were told by the government to keep quiet.

Senior medics in Wuhan who witnessed some of the first cases of the virus were secretly filmed by a citizen journalist for an ITV documentary.

The medics said they were in no doubt how dangerous the virus was and that they were aware of deaths as early as the end of December 2019.

One said: "Actually, at the end of December or beginning of January, the relative of someone I know died of this virus.

"Many of those living with him were also infected, including people I know."

Another said: "We all felt there shouldn’t be any doubt about human to human transmission."

Speaking after Wuhan was released from lockdown, the professionals also outlined a cover-up by the Chinese government authorities from the start of the outbreak.

One added: "We knew this virus transmitted from human to human. But when we attended a hospital meeting, we were told not to speak out.

"The provincial leaders told the hospitals not to tell the truth."

They said authorities knew that new year celebrations in January would "accelerate the spread of the virus".

"People suggested at city level that it shouldn’t go ahead, but it did because such an event would present a harmonious and prosperous society," the medic said.

The documentary uncovers evidence that while the highly contagious virus was spreading between January 5th and 17th January, no new cases were officially reported in China during that 12-day period.

The Wuhan medical professionals' testimony is backed by leading virologists, including infectious diseases specialist Dr Yi-Chun Lo, the Deputy Director-General of Centers for Disease Control in Taiwan.

He said: "The very early outbreak management was just a mess, a failure.

"I think the pandemic could have been avoided at the beginning if China was transparent about the outbreak and was quick to provide necessary information to the world."

Yet the Chinese authorities were still denying the virus could be passed from human to human.

Outbreak: The Virus That Shook The World, is on ITV at 9pm on Tuesday, January 19th.

Interestingly enough China had the only economy in the developed world to record a growth in the last 12 months. 2% compared to the majority of economies falling (source was the radio news in the car this morning)

JEREMY CORBYN has attacked Boris Johnson for securing millions of coronavirus jabs for Brits, accusing him of "vaccine nationalism". In an eerie insight into what might have been Britain's coronavirus strategy if Mr Corbyn has won the general election just over a year ago, the former Labour leader attacked the UK and others for purchasing high stocks of life-saving Covid jabs.

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

That scumbag has always been a disgrace.

We shouldn't have ordered so many vaccines. He's implying we're making parts of the world going without.

What MIGHT have been IF. <whistle> As it stands we have the worst death rate in the world, on a very small ISLAND in global terms. And before you start, I am not getting into an argument with you or anybody else for that matter. Jeremy Corbyn is not the prime minister or even the leader of the opposition. He is a back bench MP. Over 80,000 people dead says it all really.

He's the king, the poster-boy, the unrivalled champion of the find-fault-or-offence-with-anything-to-make-yourself-look-virtuous brigade.
People like him think they have the moral high ground but that kind of attitude actually impedes us.
Cambridge University actually had to have a policy debate around whether or not everyone's opinion should be respected. Fortunately they rejected it. Because if you can't tell someone they're wrong, how are you supposed to have academic debate and therefore any kind of progress?

Exactly. There’s the cliché isn’t there? Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Well no, they’re not. Why should I be entitled to an opinion on a subject I know nowt about?

I’ve just heard on tv that a hospital in Texas was locked by the building owner.
It said on a notice on the door that the hospital company had not paid its rent ! !

l believe that Britain is slowly but surely selling off different bits & services that used to be under the umbrella of the NHS. They claim they are not ‘selling’ the NHS but this is an ongoing sell off - often quoting the cumbersome bureautic NHS and we need a slimmed down partly (at leased to start) private entity as found in the USA.

Now the ‘superb, envy of the world’ is seen through new eyes - a hospital closed down ffs coz it didn’t pay its rent - leaving doctors & nurses etc wondering what heck !!! Not to mention patients.

Give me any time our good old NHS with its good caring work for the British folk without having to think of a penny saved here and there. Or who can we fleece to make a profit out of their misfortune.
I also don’t give a sh;t if a few thousand folk who are not citizens get help - claiming expenses from another health systemwould likely be time consuming and costly.

Everyone has a right to hold an opinion EJK, but the ignorant don’t have the right to an audience.

Last words will not reply any more. IF Ian Porterfield was injured and had to miss the 1973 FA Cup final, Sunderland MIGHT not have beaten Leeds to win the trophy.
