That is my thinking. They certainly cannot interfere in football matters. FIFA rules prohibit it. My guess is they have shown an interest because it is one of our major allies. For the Foreign Office to get involved suggests they are doing so for purposes of not upsetting the Saudis.
It could also be for the PL to gain comfort about the ethics and human rights side I suppose. I get that the PL have to make sure they make the right call. But it would appear now that all obstacles have been removed.
Given that the PL sold TV rights to China, I suspect that human rights and ethics are low. The PL don't want a state to own a club. They view PIF as the state. Arbitration will now decide that.
So OD test aside. Cause that’s the arbitration isn’t it. Or is it. Is it JUST to conclude who the owners are? What about all the naughty shenanigans that’s happened. So let’s say arbitration concludes that the owners are not the state. And only that fact. Taking this point on its own does that takeover go through? If so does it matter about the contact with Bein?
Arbitration is solely the ODT test and the legsl status of PIF. Arbitration is successful then the takeover is a formality. Contact with BEin to address their previous lobbying. I suspect that the consortium are trying to persuade BEin to endorse.
Possibly because the PL wouldn’t want to upset their largest (?) partner/sponsor if possible and BEin might just assure the PL that it will be okay.

Seems valid but the PL don’t discuss takeovers with external stakeholders......officially. However maybe they have actually made some underhand “recommendations” On a side note is it weird I’m eating last nights takeover for breakfast. I fell asleep just after it was ordered and the missus didn’t wake me up.
