Casilla - 7. Not a great deal to do but came and dealt with crosses impressively and did what he needed to do. Solid.

Dallas - 6. Steady. Let his man go for the goal. Sloppy at times controlling the ball but was a willing outlet throughout.

Cooper - 7. Good to have back. Used the ball well. Couldn't do anything differently for the goal. Decent display.

Ayling - 6. Wrong decision for the goal. Tried to drag us forward.

Alioski - 5. Great cross for Rodrigo first half. Lots of sloppiness but, like Dallas, a willing runner throughout.

Struijk - 5. Tough day for him. Pushed a little too high up the pitch (see the goal) which left him too isolated and easy to bypass. Replacing Phillips is a tough ask.

Klich - 4. Poor for the last 8-10 games now. Looks slow, can't pass, can't shoot and constantly left grasping at shirts.

Rodrigo - 5. Marginally better than Klich. Expect more from a Spanish international. Should have scored first half but didn't throw himself at the ball. More commitment needed.

Harrison - 7. Crossed some wicked balls in but nobody there to capitalise. Not to blame for today at all.

Raphinha - 6. Too many heavy touches and poor passes with the odd spark of genius. Another who was well below par today with his overall game.

Bamford - 4. Outnumbered and out muscled. Can't fault the service. The balls were there to be attacked. Poor hold up play. Squandered three half chances. That's the difference between a point and a loss. At this level you have to take what you get.

    Subs.

Roberts - 7. Came on and looked threatening. Showed a couple of nice runs in behind, picked some nice passes then promptly tackled Ayling on the edge of the box. Probably his best showing this season.

Hernandez - 7. Usual couple of sloppy passes but slid some clever balls in behind a tightly packed defence. Looked the most likely to make something happen.

Poveda - 5. There has to be an end product. I've yet to see one.

Bielsa - 5 Outwitted again, this time by a Manager with an ounce of experience the Argentine had.

Roberts was our most impressive player

Don't tell them like it is boss... They will not like it. I have been banging on about our limited players since last season. Bielsa has done his bit and needs to leave. He will not progress this club any further.

Can't help thinking today was made for a big lump of a number nine to attack those balls and bully the brighton three.

Today was one of those days that you'd have to dig deep and grind out a win. Whatever they did tactic wise absolutely worked.

Only half joking here when I say that Brian Dean or Lee Chapman would have excelled on today's deliveries.

That daft **** up front didn't even get a touch on any of them. Putting away crosses doesn't seem to be our strong point.

Rodrigo just as much to blame as Bamford.

    Player ratings:
Kiko - 6 - Didn’t do anything wrong, made a couple of saves and clearances when needed. Hopefully Meslier will be back for the next game but that should give Kiko some confidence if needed for Newcastle.

Dallas - 5 - Did okay. Can’t really comment much more than that. Need him at LB.

Ayling - 3 - Should have been with Maupay for the goal so cost us big time. Need him back in his position. He’s done well as a makeshift CB but RB is where he thrives and where we need him. Get Llorente in at CB.

Cooper - 6 - Played well and commanded the defence. Good to have him back. Didn’t do much wrong.

Alioski - 3 - Thought he was poor today. Went missing so much at LB, poor passing, losing the ball in possession. Linked up terribly with Raphinha. Think his decision making is quite poor too.

Struijk - 5 - He did well, made some good passes and interceptions. He’s not Phillips but the problem wasn’t in his position today.

Harrison - 3 - Should have scored or at least got his chance on target. Decision making when he has time is poor. Think he crossed the ball 3 or 4 times when it was nowhere near any Leeds player and not even in a good area of the box, does this most games and gets very frustrating.

Rodrigo - 3 - Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t and when it doesn’t it’s detrimental to the team. There were many times tonight where he was too high up the field or a player beat him for pace on a one on one and then storms through to our back line. Seriously need some reinforcements in CM.

Klich - 3 - Usually a big fan of Klich but he’s not been up to it for a while now. I’m not sure how he plays is working with Rodrigo. Hopefully he’ll improve.

Raphinha - 3 - Poor. Didn’t seem to be working that hard and didn’t link up with Alioski. Haven’t rated him at LM. Think it works much more with Harrison on the left and Raphinha on the right so I’m not sure why Bielsa changed it today.

Bamford - 6 - Did everything he could. Held up the ball when he got it and ran his socks off but go no service.

    Subs:
Roberts - 6 - Not usually his biggest fan but actually looked sharp today. If he plays like that and with that hunger he could get back into the team.

Hernandez - 3 - Didn't do much and tried to make things happen but nothing came off.

Poveda - 3 - I can only remember 1 pass and it went out of play. Don’t think he’s the answer.

Also, our pitch is terrible yes but Brighton put passes together and played well. Great movement and possession play leading to their goal. Cannot be an excuse for us, we lose possession too easily through stray passing and this isn’t something new home or away.

Klich is a major concern, Rodrigo is on the way to joining him. I felt Raphinha and Harrison were unsuited to being on the opposite wings
