Good news about Skipp. https://tbrfootball.com/jose-mourinho-says-tottenham-youngster-oliver-skipp-will-remain-out-on-loan/
Good news for this season, but not so sure about next season: "Next season he’s back, but we believe that for this season we think it’s best for him to stay at Norwich and he’s also very happy with that.”
We have been linked with the Norwegian left back Bjorkan before, right? I vaguely remember. Maybe this rumour has some truth in it if so. Would be an interesting, typical Webber signing. I know nothing about him. https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/n...op-flight-clubs-for-22-year-old-title-winner/
According to the Pink 'Un City have had talks with Nyland. He is willing to take a short term contract and settle his long term future in the summer. But is he willing to sit on the bench, hopefully, for the rest of the season?
It would seem so from what he says: "For me, it's only in the first phase, until the summer, about getting into a team and training myself again and getting in shape. If I can play games that way too, that's great. Then we take an evaluation for the summer around where you can possibly write a longer contract and get to play for several years and be the first goalkeeper." https://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwi...talks-with-former-villa-keeper-nyland-6901048
Looks like a try before you buy deal €7.5m which is a bit steep but I have never heard of him. Trust in Webber https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/n...nt-offer-to-land-25-y-o-from-european-outfit/
Is Quintilla a loan or a buy? If the former then it makes more sense although it would still hamper the development of Bali Mumba who, at 19, would have been looking forward to more game time and not less. Haven't we also got another promising LB out on loan at the moment and can't Byram also play LB? How many do we need?
Quintilla is loan with a purchase price agreed. Purchase is linked to promotion. Not sure if the option only exists if we go up, or we're locked into buying him on promotion. I vaguely remember something about that possibly being appearance-related too, which he might not hit the target for owing to injury. I think this is a long-winded way of me saying I don't know... McCallum is on loan at Coventry, where he's doing ok I think? Not excellent, I think the club want him to have another season at a lower Championship level before he becomes a serious option for us. Mumba is thought of as a RB rather than LB, although he did change the game Vs Swansea when he played LB. Probably still a be a risk to be one injury away from him being first choice on either side though. Byram is back on the grass, but with his injury record, can you ever really count him as a front line option? Feels like we need 4 full-backs + Byram. We currently have Aarons, Quintilla, Byram and then Mumba and Sorensen learning the role. I can see the logic in the suggested transfer. It gives us two really strong LB options for the rest of the season. If we go up, we can then sign Quintilla permanently and have continuity there, with the young players getting good loans. If we fail to achieve promotion, then the new guy would be first choice next campaign. He was linked with a £4m move to Newcastle in the summer, so it looks like this would be a relatively expensive signing by NCFC standards.
Mumba will probs be earmarked to eventually replace Max. Can’t ever see Byram being a solution sadly as his injury record rivals that of Matt Jarvis and that’s not a good thing or a viable, reliable option. McCallum returning next season will be back up to Quintilla assuming he stays with us.
Excellent summary DH. As I recall, Mumba came to us as a DM/CM, but our immediate need was at FB so he slotted in there. This also accounts for his ability going forward as shown in the Swansea game, where I recall he played further forward while McLean provided cover at LB from midfield as we pressed for a goal. His versatility could be a real strength.
Makes sense to give him a decent trial period before getting the 'war-chest' out and making it a feta compli
My aged memory thinks the Quintilla position is an OPTION to buy if we are promoted, but this new one for Gianoulis is compulsory, no matter which division we are in next season. This leads me to believe Quintilla will not be with us next season, I can't see us splashing out significant sums on two players in the same positio.
That's a lot of cash!! Other sources saying it's an initial loan with view to perm if we go up (same as Quintilla). Some high praise from PAOK fan... @alainb_ @HellasFooty Unfortunately...And no offense (thats not against ur club) but this deal is a scandal for me. Thats a professional misconduct from our board. To give u an idea, Soli (the scout who discovered Firmino) said he was the best LB in whole East and South Europe. Better than Mykolenko
Try before you buy with the price about £2.7m which IF we go up is a pittance. From what we have seen so far of him I think he's better than Lewis
I'm sure we'll hear loads of different fees bandied about, but there will be a large portion of add-ons involved based on appearances, promotion and so on. It seems like the sort of ambitious signing we should make if we are to have a chance of surviving should we be promoted. SW seems to be focusing on quality rather than quantity in this window and LB and GK are our greatest needs really. Loans now with options for permanent deals makes sense.
In Norwich, he would join a team top of the Championship and desperate to bounce straight back to the Premier League at the first attempt after relegation in 2019-20. Giannoulis would likely come in as cover for Jakob Sorenson, who joined Daniel Farke’s side in the summer as a replacement for Newcastle-bound Jamal Lewis. Hmmm, and there was me thinking Sorenson was signed primarily as a DM, a probable Tettey replacement. My bad https://www.footballinsider247.com/norwich-city-news-giannoulis-close-to-agreeing-canaries-deal/
