Enjoyed watching that thanks. A lot of depth. LJ talked there about Gooch and O'Brien playing as number 9s on Tuesday. Sounds like it was effective. Take turns playing as the 9 with the other dropping deeper. Get the defence in two minds.
cheers again RTB... i know a couple of replies have been posted already...but o'brien put a shift and a half in against vale and took his goal well, held the ball up when needed and brought others into play, clever runs in and around the box as well. hopefully he will keep that work rate up and i think he will soon overtake wyke imho and has to start on that last performance.
Thanks again RTB, looking forward to the day when our teams performances match your standards on here, and the signs are that they are working towards it.
Like LJ, I thought Power looked the part at RB. Not a big fan of his but he seems much more comfortable when the game's in front of him.
Geads interview... https://www.safc.com/news/team-news/2021/january/afc-wimbledon-a/mcgeady-pre-afc-wimbledon
I like Power, he puts a shift in, He's had stick recently for being poor but I thought he showed in the last game he's capable and hopefully he'll improve under Johnson and get back to his best or even better. O'Brien earned a place for me.
It hasnt worked upfront for SAFC this season and although Wyke has got a few I am all for giving AOB a run in the team with 3 versatile players behind him interchanging positions and running the opposition ragged. We need to start scoring a good few goals, start winning games comfortably and getting up that league very very sharpish.
Yep all strikers have misses and barren spells, we just 4 players all doing it at the same for a couple of seasons. If the misses by our strikers, not just like the howler by Grigg, but include the crosses (not all top quality mind) that they fail to reach or are not in the right spot for etc. Any half decent strikers would easily be in the 20+ goals per season. Two strikers achieving that mark and we must be in with a shout of promotion. Wyke has 7....good as it goes but how many has he missed.
Max is too slow to improve much. but he is the best right back at the club atm. and a very good team player, he also has a good understanding with Diamond down that right hand side, a nice mix of youth and experience. O'Brian was a real surprise to me and I agree he must start ahead of Wyke.
You say he puts a shift in but he doesn't cover much ground, get many tackles in, win aerial battles, or throw himself in front of the ball so I'm not sure what you mean really. He did look better at RB, I've been impressed with him there so far.
Crap sorry, thought we were at Home, so put a home win Think we'll romp home with a 1-3 win (Gooch, O'Brien and McGeady) in no particular order.
I'd forgotten all about O'Brien, but LJ used him properly, overall play was more dynamic & he scored a nice goal. I'm all for giving that another go than sticking with Chatley 'biscuit tins' Farley
I don’t believe Parkinson brought him in as a no.9 to compete with Grigg, Graham and Wyke ... ... it was more likely to play left wing as McGeady was frozen out. But I agree with you that he's a good option with the likes of Gooch, Diamond, McGeady in playing him in. In midweek he was really mobile, going out wide and pulling defenders around in a way Wyke doesn't. He can also use both feet so once the supporting players get used to that he'll give any defence problems. We've had too long trying to compete in the air with L1 defenders and it's failed ... ... there's no reason to think it'll suddenly start working.
Haway man, quite obviously refers to this ... BBC Cornwall shared a video of the man, who gave his name to the BBC as Charlie Farley, being man-handled out of Penzance Town Hall, where the town’s town council is based.
