You can expect that. If you only go to work and don't socialise, the number of contacts you have is limited to only your immediate work contacts and your opportunities to spread the virus are therefore reduced. Its also easier to enforce Covid security in the formality of a workplace. People let their guard down when meeting friends and family. It would be better if all work places could be closed but people still need to earn money and require certain key services. Schools should have been closed earlier though.

But how long can you reasonably expect people to listen for? The latest lockdown, will take us till March, that will be a year. A year of continuous mistakes and false promises by the government. I can understand it’s an unprecedented situation, but some of the errors are glaringly obvious and the public are fed up.
