£300k pw to sit on the bench, listen to music and crack jokes. I'd do that for £100k and donate the rest to the NHS... or a one way ticket for several players and possibly the coach
Two of our most talented players Bale and Dele arent getting a look in in the premier league . There was absolutely no need to play both Winks and Sissoko today. No creativity and no ambition in this team especially in the 2and half of games.
Not wanting to scapegoat, but here's the issue with the right side of our defence this evening Sanchez has the pace to support Aurier's free role, including the brainfarts, but the issue is he has an error or two in him as well. Not a problem if we're on the front foot, or if he has a solid DM screening him, but what were the two problems tonight? We weren't on the front foot for most of the second half, and we don't have a solid DM screening him - because instead we have Sissoko playing as a right winger to screen Aurier Yes, I'm as sick of repeating the same things over and over just as much as you are reading them
Subbed off Winks for Moura earlier in the game to give us more attacking intent and solidify the midfield, which we were losing. Taken off Ndombele for Alli, as he took a number of fouls in the first half and was struggling with the kick-off for the second. Made three substitutions. Maybe Lamela for Son, who was having a bit of a mare.
When you pick Hojbjerg, Winks and Sissoko in the same XI you’re asking for trouble mate. It sends a message of “**** creativity”. He was too reactive today too, exactly something a lot of us criticised Poch for, I know I did massively. Dele and or Vinicius (or Lucas) should’ve been on a good 5-10 minutes before Fulham got their equaliser. A lot of us could see that we weren’t working and that it was more or less inevitable Fulham were gonna grab something, the manager should’ve seen that too. By changing things up after the goal it shows more of a panicked decision than one well thought out too in my opinion. Has to be said, Jose’s messing up a bit too much now to be honest. At a time where he should be in his sweet spot.
Whenever you drop points, or even games where you've won by the skin of your teeth, it seems to be the same choices/errors plaguing you every time. You start relatively brightly, get a goal, then sit deep until you get a turnover in possession so you can break. This strategy is heavily reliant on the devastating efficiency of Kane and Son, in addition to the opposition's profligacy. I might be wrong, but it looks like the average position of your attackers is substantially deeper than what you'd want (i.e. compared to Poch). Meaning they have more ground to make up when they are attacking and saps more energy from them. The point about substitutions is very true, in that he isn't proactive in making them and when he does, they're not the right players to bring on to be the difference-maker. His preference for sturdiness and steel over guile and panache in midfield is confusing. In a big game against technically superior sides, I can understand, but at home to Fulham? Can't excuse that.
From r/coys: We have dropped 11 points this season due to goals conceded in the final 15 minutes of a game please log in to view this image Stat Fulham 1-1 (2 points) 75’ Wolves 1-1 (2 points) 86’ Liverpool 2-1 (1 point) 90’ Palace 1-1 (2 points) 81’ West Ham 3-3 (2 points) 82’ + 85’ + 94’ Newcastle 1-1 (2 points) 97’ That's on the manager, for me.
I would have put on Dele and Vinicius for Son and Winks at at 60 minutes. We needed something different. It may not have worked but it would have given Fulham different situations to deal with. They had become comfortable with our shape and were dealing with it. Scott Parker on the other hand got his subs right.
I don’t think Ndombele did too bad...he was the one who was breaking their banks of 4...he deserved to stay on as long as possible Son is one of our best players...recently when he has been taken off and we have conceded late the manager has been lambasted for taking off our main outlet ball I agree Moura for Winks could have made some difference
Bergwijn was a Jose recruit. if he hasn't managed to coach a consistently decent level out of him after a year, that's on Jose. Vinicius was a Jose recruit. If after 5 months he hasn't managed to coach more than 90 minutes against 8th tier opposition and 5 minutes in the EPL out of him, that's on Jose. Bale was a Jose recruit. If he is indeed broken after years of injury and inactivity so that after 5 months he has still contributed minimally, that's on Jose. Dele has been in and out of contention for months. Hasn't shown nearly enough to warrant a place in the line up but then again nor have Lucas or Bergwijn. If Jose wants to keep him, play him. If not, sell him. His mismanagement is on Jose. And your last point is exactly what's wrong with us. Aside from his goal, Kane was crap tonight. Son was even worse. If those two don't turn up, Spurs don't turn up. 82% of our goals from them. We're totally fecked if either of them gets injured. We have no plan B, other than Jose's pathetic approach to substitutions, which he apparently copied from Poch in the Barca home game: throw on random attacking players and hope for the best. Our shape at the end looked like a mushroom cloud. It was a joke. Jose out.
Would've been better if this happened when we were trying to cling onto our lead... ...just so we're clear, not the injury part, more the ****ehousery to run the clock down while sapping momentum
We're at home...against Fulham...and we pick a midfield of Winks, Sissoko, Hojbjerg and Ndombele? I don't care that Moura isn't on top form. I'd have him on the right over Sissoko, if he was on crutches. If we're going to sit back, I'd have brought on Toby over Sanchez, who's a busted flush these days. He cannot be relied upon to defend adequately. Alli should have come on for Ndombele, who was knackered after an hour. The whole selection was cowardly and got what it deserved. You can say that he only trusts certain players but when they're evidently knackered, that's just piss poor management...which is exactly what he's serving up.
I guess we need Eriksen after all. Fulham were bigger, stronger and fitter than Spurs tonight. Apart from making the subs a little late, I'm not sure what Jose could have done. I do accept he didn't need to start with Hojbjerg, Sissoko and Winks though.
Ndombele did well in the first half and was trying in the second, but he was flagging and took some heavy hits. He struggled to kick off the second half and went out of the game as it went on. Taking off Son is fine if we replace him with someone who attacks. It would've been a risk, but he wasn't having a good game. We needed to change something and Mourinho took too long, then didn't make all three subs and those he used were ineffective.
I don’t think it works like that...they are responsible for their own growth too. Bergwijn can’t hit a cows arse Dele has been dogshit for years...it seems like when we are winning we don’t need him but when we don’t then why isn’t he getting picked Vinicius shines in lesser competitions and that shows he’s getting the right coaching but doesn’t have the right minerals for the PL I’m still up for giving the man a chance to build his own squad. The dogshit defenders bar Reggie are not his signings. Their equaliser came from their player getting between 2 of ours...that’s basic. I highly doubt they don’t cover the basics in training
It's a race against time though. Doesn't look like we'll be making too many incoming moves this window, and if we feck up this season (would be nailed on if our rivals weren't so inconsistent), Kane and Son are likely off and we're back to square 1. Literally Christian Gross levels of 'square 1'. As for your point about the defense...so many of us have addressed this: Why insist on a defensive approach when you know you have ****e defenders?! It's madness.
This result should end all foolish talk of secured involvement in a top four finish. Now we can concentrate on finishing in the top half of the table.
Sorry but waiting til they equalised to take of N'dombele is JMs fault. Everyone could see he was done. Allowing them to dominate us down our right wing sll the second half was down to JM. Trying to park the bus with HUGE Sanchez size hole in it is down to JM. You defend JM at all costs and imho thst is a mistake. We rarely play entertaining football znd if I can see that Fulham are going to score before they do...and that palace are looking like they will score, and West Ham and Wolves then why can't JM? And if he can why is he not changing it before it happens? But most of all why foes he insist on playing Sanchez? He is so out of form it is painful. To be honest the football at times is as boring as anything dished up by bloke in a coat, Santini and AVB. I wanna watch exciting football like we had under most of Pochettino's reign, or Redknapp's. There were no trophies but I was entertained and looked forward to seeing us either live or on tv. But there is no way I'd pay to watch the dross JM serves up
