There are excess vaccinations because the vials are supposed to have 5 doses in, but some have 6 in (presumably as they are filled to a minimum)
So they are getting more than the numbers they can programme for (they could get all with only 5 in)
I assume that's why they are getting in touch with people who can use the spares if there are any, but who aren't any worse off if they aren't any because they wouldn't have got them in the first place

As long as they're not going to waste and speeding up the process of vaccinating all of us then it makes sense.

Today's FACTS from real life observation. A 30 min walk, as an exercise break from working at home.
    • Row of houses where front door opens directly onto a reasonably busy pavement. Woman stepped straight out in front of me. No effort to look who's coming. No mask.
    • 2 mates (mid-aged blokes) stood talking to each other, shoulder to shoulder
    • Woman, and I assume her 20ish y.o. daughter cross over the road to my side and step onto the pavement literally no more than a foot from me.
    • Several oldies (80's plus) out walking on busy town centre pavement, no masks, brushing past others
    • Woman jogger, blowing, chooses to jog down the pavement of a reasonably busy main street.
    • Secondhand shop still open. Toilet rolls shoved in the window with a sign saying 'Open. Toilet Rolls'. Some might say, ooh clever / ingenious, trying to earn a living. That's one argument. Others would rightly say they are taking the piss. However, and with no BS, there were 5, yes 5, people sat & stood together inside the shop on & around chairs placed next to each other. No spacing. A couple with masks .... but dropped.
    • 2 separate piles of dog **** left on pavement.
That's the factual reality. All from a 30 minute walk. I / we see such as this every single day, and wherever we go.

On the other hand, yes, there were several examples of people doing the right thing, giving others wide berths, keeping a distance, giving a nod when you make an effort to give them distance, etc.

I maintain my view that it's a FACT that too many of "the Great British Public" are not that at all, but are a combination of selfish, lazy and stupid. I like the change of tone / messaging & approach that's now coming - unfortunately it's needed (just hopefully applied with sufficient common sense). .

So from a population of over a quarter of a million, your facts are based on a random view of around a dozen people, none of whom you know their personal situations. Let's face it, someone may have included you as an irresponsible person in a similar type of assessment.

I think you may want to reassess what FACTS and OPINIONS actually are.

    Aye, ok then :emoticon-0112-wonde
This was just today's examples! .
Yes, maybe the odd one had a 'personal situation' mitigation.
You know, I know, we all know this is what is happening in reality and that too many of "The Great British Public" are not at all.
    Anyway, whatever. End of.

Boris says jabs will be given 24/7 "as soon as we can" - as AstraZeneca said it expects to release two million doses a week of the Oxford vaccine by mid-February.

They trialled the service on staff members, but somehow I don't think they injected in the right place.

EVERY builders merchants ive visited on the last 10 months have safe distancing set up but its basically just going through the motions as 90% of the customers dont give a toss. and 3/4 of the staff dont wear masks.
most of my customers from a wide spectrum don't give a toss.
in hull the first month of lockdown last spring people observed lockdown but when it became apparent there werent gonna be piles of bodies on pavements that soon ended.

streets that were once deserted became just like normal.

i cant comment on the great british public but 90% of people in hull ive come across arent bothered.

i travelled to a greek island late summer and over there it was insane the lengths they went to in restaurants and shops , but once back here - i lie even in their airport brits on our flight no masks attitudes became more relaxed.

i told my present customer that i had tested positive for covid and had to isolate and they said they didnt mind if i carried on working in their house!!!!

2 in 3 show no symptoms and i know loads who think this whole thing is overcooked - their words. my pal passed it onto 5 or 6 of his drinking pals (city fans) and none of them showed any symptoms and so they all think its blown out of all proportion.

maybe in certain sectors the guidelines are being followed but in hairy arsed scratch your arse and sniff it type of blokes its just not happening.

I wouldn't dispute that there are plenty of areas that don't follow the guidance to the letter, but I think often people mistake what is visible for a 'majority' and make some sweeping statements that are essentially derogatory, and that creates division and resentment. I don't believe that is constructive over all.

UK records 1,564 deaths within 28 days of a positive Covid test – the highest daily figure since the start of the pandemic.
