Villa should be made to play the game, they put out a side against the ****e in the cup whilst their training ground was closed, it’ll be reopen before the game vs us. So they’ve got no excuse imo.
They wouldn't have to though, it’s over 7 days since they registered multiple positive tests, and if their training ground is reopen then they should be made to play. They’ve got a rearranged game on Weds vs City (cancelled from the opening day of the season) which is at the heart of their wanting this game to be cancelled imo. They should be told to **** clean off.
One day's preparation isn't ideal though with the training ground only reopening on Saturday. Can see why they're reluctant tbh, though another postponed game is hardly ideal for them.
What ideal for them and only having one days training at the ground is irrelevant. They can put a first team squad side out and therefore should be made to. Fulham were only told on Monday that they’d be playing Spurs tonight. It is what it is.
We'll see. I don't think you'd be happy if it was Everton with only one day to train, can't imagine they'll be anywhere near match fitness. It's all becoming a bit of a mess all round really. Can defo see a team or two having a Saturday - Tuesday - Thursday - Saturday week towards the end of the season. Should probably just stop it tbh. It's getting ridiculous.
It’s one day on the training ground but they’ll all be doing personally tailored fitness. It’s not like they’re watching Netflix all day then roll out of bed for the game. Anyway **** em. Play the ****ing game. ****s.
Its ok for teams like Southampton who’s backlog of games will probably just be dead rubbers but some teams will have a fixture congestion at the business end of the season and that will scupper their chances of glory because every game matters
Good thing you haven’t spent years avoiding buying adequate cover for a star player to not upset him.
FA cup games need to meet a schedule, but league games will be pushed into a shorter window. Get the yoof/reserves to meet fixtures. Bet the CL commitments (fear of a breakaway super league) will force the PL to look at how called off games are done when the games come back soon.
when was the last time Everton had anything to play for in the last game or 3 of a season? Dead rubber merchants
Can see fixtures being juggled around to make sure there’s no congestion. They’ve tried it on the biggest fairy in the PL and he hasn’t burnt the world down yet, so providing Fulham v Spurs goes without any hiccups I think it’ll become the new norm. Nobody knows who their next game is against, fixture roulette. Sounds a bit Yankee.
