Well done Andy Smith. A fine debut from another one of our home grown Hull lads. Excellent start for him.
He was very good, but we're allowed to acknowledge that he was at fault for their first though, right?
He's had tonnes of praise, and rightly so, but if he wants to play for us regularly, he can't cost goals like that. It's funny but if we'd have lost 1-0 tonight, people would have been slaughtering McCann, I saw tonnes of it on twitter.
Possibly was, but that's exactly why he was playing, to be in those situations and make those mistakes, he'll learn more from that mistake then if he had a flawless game, as far as debut's go... You'd take it all day long
He was great and he should real mental strength recovering from it. Great to see he didn't do a Jordi and just crumble. That's exactly why he played, there's nothing wrong with making mistakes but when you've got a fanbase baying for the manager's blood, he'd be excused for not risking it. I'm sure a number of L2 clubs will have seen his performance and be keen to take him for the rest of the season
You just know it’s going to be Sunderland in the next round, them or MK Dons. Weird that last year’s final still hasn’t been played covid an all. I wonder when that game will be played ?
I didn't see the game as the middle of the night here. It sounds as if it was a typical disjointed first half as often happens with so many changes. Great credit though to Terry for changing things in the 2nd half, and even more so to the players who dragged a result from the jaws of defeat. A wonderful winning goal from Coyle, he had another good game by all accounts. I wonder if Terry might try him in front of Emmanuel as a winger, move Wilks to the centre and for God sake get KLP on the pitch on the left? Really nice to hear Andy Smith had a good game, promising lad this. Also, Salem coming on and making his mark, great to see them both do well. Well done City for not giving up and getting the win.
yorshire post description of coyle's goal: "Fleetwood goalkeeper Joe Hilton got it clear, only for Lewie Coyle to thrash the ball into the top corner from practically a different postcode to give his hometown club a dramatic win over his former one. Granted, this being the Football League Trophy the KCOM stands would hardly have been full to bursting but even a smattering of fans would have exploded."
-> A wonderful winning goal from Coyle, he had another good game by all accounts. I wonder if Terry might try him in front of Emmanuel as a winger, move Wilks to the centre and for God sake get KLP on the pitch on the left? Clearly an option. Except I'd suggest Coyle as RB and Emmanuel as attacking wide right midfield (in the 4 2 3 1 that McCann now goes for).
Although he still has limitations, perhaps some credit to McCann. Learnt from his mistake of a weak bench against Stevenage. Subs from a stronger bench last night turned and saved the game.
Confusing Madeley and Whiteley is surely a hanging offence? The ex-mayor will be turning in his grave...
